Chic In The City | City Break Style Essentials

Hello June! We’re officially in holiday season guys and I bet you’re all off to places far and wide for exciting adventures across the globe. One of my favourite types of holiday is the city break, for me they’re the perfect balance between just enough ‘luxury living/relaxation and exploration into the unknown (or museums in most cases).

Packing for a city break is wholly different to dressing for a beach holiday or exploration type trip. For me they give off the vibe of something a little more chic than your typical comfy sandals and shorts type of holiday outfit, but they also need to be practical.

Here are a few tips and essentials you’ll need to manage your time away in the most fashionable outfit possible.

Layering is essential but slick tailored lines, a basic colour palette and more minimalist style seems to be a good go-to for timeless city style. Of course, when you’re packing you need to be able to mix and match pieces that work from day into night – especially in cities where the nightlife is a little more ‘high society’ than a relaxed beach-side bar. Accessories are important here and I always think a city trip is a nice time to go out of your comfort zone and experiment with shapes and colour.

As with any holiday a city break trip will have you on your feet the whole day, so keep the footwear simple. Chic flats for the day (dependent on the whether, think brogues, leather sandals or posh sneakers) and manage the day-to-night transition by swapping them for heeled sandals or ankle boots for evening activities.

And of course, my final tip? Utilise social media! We live in a fantastic age where you can check out what locals are wearing in your holiday destination on Instagram. So hit up those hashtags and check out popular style bloggers in the area for added inspiration.

R.xoxo
