    Two Weeks #15
    – All wrapped up – coffee + Kindle time – borrowing my sister’s cool watch – preppy outfit – dinner out for my mum’s birthday – new read – early morning – Catching Fire! –

Oh my it has been a bit of an all over the place two weeks and a fandom-crazy weekend for me. We’ve definitely hit the point where University has taken over all of my brain. It’s hard to concentrate on two blogs when you’ve also got two big projects and a dissertation to think about…=S
Aside from this I’ve been trying to get my brain into organisation mode for both Christmas and my blog’s birthday – which is scarily soon 0_0. Again University’s become the priority so I feel like I’ve had little to no time to think about this recently!
I did let me brain have a rest, for the sake of two pretty big pop culture events to happen. First up I saw Catching Fire last Friday, which was so good and definitely a much better movie than I expected! I was admittedly worried going into the cinema before the film – Catching Fire is my favourite of the trilogy – but they did the book justice in my opinion. And then the insanely hyped up Doctor Who 50th Anniversary episode yesterday evening. If you were following my tweets, you’ll have certainly picked up some of my thoughts on the episode already. But in short…it was every bit as awesome as I wanted it to be – there were one or two bits I would’ve changed but oh well. Alls good on the fandom side of my life at least ^_^

  • The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Premiere L.A. | Red Carpet Fashion Round Up

Easily the biggest franchise around at the moment, the Hunger Games has taken the crown of most hyped movie series since Harry Potter and Twilight. The L.A. premiere was held last Monday and swept into town with much fanfare. Here’s the round up of all the best and brightest from the event…
    Jennifer-Lawrence-Catching-Fire-LA-premiere
After an ok-ish run of looks from the previous premieres and the promo tour, Jennifer Lawrence finally pulled out all the stops for the L.A. premiere in a stunning Dior Haute Couture gown. There’s very little that I don’t like about this look, from her gorgeous new hair-do to flawless make-up to the broad geometric belt. Some may argue she may have flashed a bit too much flesh, but I actually think she’s pulled this off very tastefully, this is a perfect example of how the sheer trend can work so well – and it should be noted that the runway styling actually comes without the top, Jen opted for a bodysuit underneath.
    Elizabeth-Banks-Jena-Malone-Catching-Fire-LA-premiere
Two ladies I was certainly looking forward to seeing from at this premiere was red carpet star Elizabeth Banks and cast newcomer Jena Malone. Elizabeth definitely didn’t let me down in a mind blowingly bold Versace gown and again, there’s very little I don’t like about this look. Styled to perfection but with no accessories, this dress didn’t need it any extra bling. It’s a showstopper.
Jena’s been the wildcard of the cast during the premieres but I’m so glad for it. She donned a glittering and peek-a-boo panelled gown by Nicholas Oakwell. Like JLaw’s look, there’s a lot of skin here, but she does pull it off tastefully and with a fabulous devil may care attitude. Simple styling, again, let’s the dress do the talking here, no OTT make-up or overly styled hair needed.
    Willow-Shields-Stephanie-Leigh-Schlund-Meta-Golding-Lynn-Cohen-Catching-Fire
The supporting cast were equally as impressive at the event. Willow Shields has come a long way since her first venture out on the red carpet at The Hunger Games premiere. The young actress looked oh so elegant in Katie Ermilio, printed with pale blue flowers. Such a wonderful princess moment for her, yet she looks so grown up too! A trio of newcomers next. Blonde and beautiful Stephanie Leigh Schlund, looked positively angelic in a very pretty lace gown accompanied by retro waves that would make Taylor Swift jealous. If Stephanie was an angel, Meta Golding was a red hot devil in Georges Hobeika gown. The gown itself is gorgeous – I particularly love the thigh high split – , I’m just not sure about the mix of metallic with her jewellery and shoes. And finally Lynn Cohen looked adorably eccentric in her purple and black dress, with boho-chic necklaces.
    Jackie-Emerson-Isabelle-Fuhrman-Catching-Fire-LA-premiere
Some former tributes also made an appearance at the premiere to support their Hunger Games castmates. Jackie Emerson wore a pretty berry coloured skater dress (which I really want for myself now!), styled with simple black accessories and the fierce Isabelle Furhman went for an OTT tulle Christian Siriano dress. The dress is amazing and so is the glint of gold from her headband, the shoes, however, let down the look. Too high and far too heavy for such a pretty dress.

    Keirnan-Shipka-Bella-Thorne-Sarah-Hyland
Of course, young Hollywood were out to impress at the premiere too. The ever-adorble Keirnan Shipka once again continues to impress in a pretty Miu Miu top and skirt, green embellishments on the pockets and collar. Bella Thorne donned a look that I’m finally happy with. Her Blumarine gown was lovely and ethereal looking, and perfectly styled with a messy braid. I’m seriously on the fence about Sarah Hyland‘s Sass and Bide mini. I feel like the front half of the dress is a little too fussy and the black heels weigh it down a bit, a pass on the dress but her hair and make up are on point for sure!

    Zoe-Lenny-Kravitz-Catching-Fire-LA-premiere
Not everyone would take the option to walk down the red carpet with their dad, but I think if we were Zoe Kravitz we’d all make an exception. Supporting the legend that is Lenny Kravitz, who plays Cinna in the series, Zoe wore an minimalist Balenciaga mini. Styled with simple black sandals and thin gold choker, Zoe has enough confidence and cool to carry off this look. Dad, Lenny, also rocked the red carpet in Saint Laurent. Hopefully we’ll see more of these two on the red carpet as Zoe starts promoting her own Dystopian series, Divergent.
    Josh-Hutcherson-Liam-Hemsworth-Sam-Claflin-Catching-Fire-LA-premiere
And obviously we can’t leave the rest of the boys out of the equation! Leading man Josh Hutcherson looked pretty slick in a Dolce & Gabbana suit, the ever handsome Liam Hemsworth paired up with JLaw, also picking out a Dior designed suit; and repping the Brits was the lovely and smiley Sam Claflin in grey Alexander McQueen.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is released in UK cinemas TOMORROW 21st November – Eeeeek!

  • Top Crops | The Celebrity Cropped Hair Trend

    Jennifer-Lawrence-cropped-hairstyle
When Jennifer Lawrence hit the red carpets for The Hunger Games press tour there was something distinctly different about her…her newly cropped pixie do’! From a rock chick quiff to elegantly sweep back, she (and her undoubtedly talented hair team) have been getting creative with her new hairstyle.
And she’s not the only one who’s recently reached for the scissors.
Hollywood stars like Beyonce and even Pamela Anderson, have all taken the risk and gone for shorter locks. The trend has been popular with young Hollywood too. Emma Watson is the obvious kick-starter, after she famously shed her Hermione hair when the films stopped rolling. Shailene Woodley also recently cut off her lusciously long brown hair for her role in The Fault In Our Stars (and donated her hair to charity too!), following the footsteps of Anne Hathaway who also cut her own hair off on camera for Les Miserables. Then off course there’s Miley Cryus’ now infamous undercut, which – I admit – I’m coming round to.

What do you guys think? Would you ever go as short as JLaw? Or maybe hit the halfway point like Emma Watson and Beyonce?
