  • Halloween costumes for the fashion conscious

It’s that time of year again! Halloween is just around the corner and with potentially two different weekends to celebrate there’s no excuse not to dress up.

But if you don’t feel like digging out that ratty witch’s hat or devil horns again, then have no fear! Here’s 5 unique Halloween costumes for the fashion savvy…
    Fashion Halloween - AW
Anna Wintour: Grab your big sunglasses and bob cut wig for this take on the Queen of Vogue herself. Just add a midi dress or skirt with a statement necklace and you’re set!

    Fashion Halloween - TG

Tavi Gevinson: We’re all fashion bloggers here so why not impersonate one of the best and kookiest? Go over sized and artistically mismatched with your best bitch face. Wig and geek glasses optional.

    Fashion Halloween - VB
Victoria Beckham: No longer just Posh Spice, perfect Ms Beckham’s famous pout for this costume. For authenticity an actual VB dress would be ideal, with a fake baby Harper attached to your side.

    Fashion Halloween - KL
Karl Lagerfeld: Probably the most comfortable costume on the list! Suit up and get your chic leather gloves to take on Uncle Karl’s signature look. Don’t forget to wig up and hide behind those Chanel sunglasses too!
    Fashion Halloween - AC
Alex Chung: Not feeling particularly creative? Then dress down as British Fashion dah-ling, Alexa Chung, it’ll be even easier than Tavvi! You will most likely have the collared shirt, brogues, mini skirt/tailored shorts (all Topshop of course, Henry Holland if you’re being really fancy). Got a couple of quid spare? Then a Mulberry Alexa is obviously a must!

And if you’re still stuck for ideas? Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen, Kurt Hummel from Glee, Nicki Minaj, anyone from the cast of Gossip Girl, Olivia Palermo, Lady Gaga and Kate Middleton

It may be too early to be thinking about Christmas but many stores are already thinking ahead to designing their festive windows. Harrod’s is famous for it’s extravagent displays and this year will be no exception. On November 1st [yep that early!], they’ll be revealing their Modern Disney Princess window displays to what I can imagine will be much spectacle. The store challenged 10 iconic designers to take on the princess’ most memorable outfits.
The team of womenswear designers were [from top to bottom] Versace, Elie Saab, Marchesa, Oscar De La Renta, Jenny Packham, Roberto Cavalli, Escada, Missoni and Ralph & Russo.
My personal favourites are the embellished Elie Saab gown for Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty and Pocahontas’ badass native inspired Cavalli dress – but then again she always was my favourite.
See all the dresses in detail as well as the video of the dresses in real life – yes, they made them! – by clicking here

Which one is your favourite? Do you like each designer’s interpretation? Or were they missing some key fashion names here?
And will you any of you be heading to London to gawk at the gowns in person?

    Keep on wishing…

  • This Week…

Getting into Haim – Day #51 – Day #52 – Nails done for the first time in ages – Day #53 – Started reading Delirium – Bored waiting at the station – Day #54 – McFly’s autobiography Unsaid Things arrived! – Day #55 – Vain photo is vain – Cooking lunch on Saturday – Saturday night cupcakes & coffee – Finished Unsaid Things, amazing book, amazing band – Inception –

    Soundtrack: Haim – Forever

One of those weeks where I’ve removed myself a little from the fashion blogging world to throw myself into the other stuff that I love.
Finally figured out the song that’s been going around my head for the past month has been Forever by Haim. Ironically I found them on Who What Wear as part of their ‘The New Girls’ blog post. As well as new music I was delving into old loves, namely McFly. I’m often criticised and even questioned why I love this band so much. Now I have a book to back up my argument. I’ll probably review it in full at some point – maybe on Blogger’s Bookshelf, cheeky plug! – but my overall feeling from their autobiography Unsaid Things was just overwhelming pride. ‘My boys’ have grown up and overcome alot, maybe not the struggles most celebs have, but they’ve gotten through it all with each other’s support. *le sigh* ok I’m fangirling again…
My new commute read is Delirium by Lauren Oliver, another one for the review list! I’m only about halfway through but I’m pleasantly surprised.
Apart from that it’s been the same old, can’t quite believe it’s nearly November! I would’ve been at my placement for around 4 months and it’s almost time for the festive season…mental stuff!

    Keep on wishing…
