The cliched ‘life is a rollercoaster’ metaphor is pretty much the perfect way to sum up how my February’s gone.
From the impossible high of the amazing two days I spent with my best friend Kath in London to go and see Taylor Swift in concert – with Cara Delevigne, Harry Styles, Dougie Poynter and Ellie Goulding also in the audience when we were there to! What?!
To the most stressful period of my life last week with three hefty University deadlines to contend with and the unfortunate news that my Grandmother passed away on Tuesday night. I honestly felt like I hit a personal low-point last Wednesday and its times like these I really hate living so far away from my extended family. If you follow me on Twitter/Instagram you’ll know I have my head in a better place after giving myself a few days away from Internet life. This short time away has made me realise that I have amazing friends and am even more grateful to have such strong parents and a wonderful sister too.
Sorry if this post feels like a bit of a downer. I don’t want it to be. If anything this if further proof of how much I need to keep moving no matter what life throws at you – YOLO…ahem.
So go hug someone you love today, ok? <3

  • Blog Of The Month | Corals + Cognacs

    11 Corals + Cognacs
Run by…fearless fashionista and newbie New York-er, Hallie.
In 3…daring style choices, wanderlust-worthy backdrops & a generous helping of fun.
Why I keep going back…I discovered Hallie’s blog after she was featured in IFB’s Links A La Mode for her post on 9/11 and thought it was wonderfully written and so poignant too. A former Midwesterner (is that the right term?) she now resides in NYC, living as “stylishly and spontaneously” as possible. This happy-go-lucky ethos is embedded throughout her blog, which showcases plenty style inspiration and unexpected outfit combos, as well as lifestyle and travel posts. I’ve also recently been hooked on her Fashion Week coverage!

Favourite post…a toss up between her post showcases her favourites places in New York and her ongoing series of Outfit Outtakes!
  • BAFTAs 2014 | Red Carpet Fashion Round Up

All eyes were on London yesterday evening with what seemed like half of Hollywood in town to celebrate the BAFTAs at the Royal Opera House. Thankfully the rain held off this year as the stars walked the red carpet and I was especially impressed with this year’s sartorial choices. Here are some of my favourites…

BAFTAs14-Lupita Nyong’oThe ‘Oops you did it again!’ Award | Lupita N’yong’o
With a certain American Hustle starlet noticeably absent from the ceremony, Lupita filled the Dior shaped gap on the red carpet in a full-length, green Dior Couture gown. Once again she definitely isn’t shying away from colour in this bold hue, not many people would’ve been able to pull this off but she wears it with much flair! A simple metallic belt and golden cuff-style bracelets set off this very elegant look.
    BAFTAs14-Sam Barks
The ‘Can you not with your everything’ Award | Samantha Barks
Appearing like an angelic apparition at the event, Sam Barks seemed to glide up the red carpet in this stunningly simple Calvin Klein gown. The creamy hue goes wonderfully with her olive skin tone and I adore the addition of the statement pearl necklaces. Beautiful look, beautiful woman. *le sigh*
    BAFTAs14-Sam Claflin Laura Haddock
The Best of Burberry Award | Sam Claflin & Laura Haddock
Sam and Laura for me were the best dressed couple of the evening, with both of them choosing to deck themselves head to toe in Burberry. Sam went for a very dapper navy suit and bowtie, whilst Laura went for a minimalist draped and backless gown.
    BAFTAs14-Amy Adams
The ‘Lady Is A Vamp’ Award | Amy Adams
Showing off her darker side, Amy, turned up at the event in a jet black Victoria Beckham gown. The dress itself is chock full of detail, from the simplicity of the column skirt to the sheer neckline set off with a subtle menswear inspired collar, and with an added berry hued lip colour, there’s very little I don’t love about this look. I love the diversity Amy’s bringing to the red carpet events this year, let’s hope her Oscar look is just as showstopping!
    BAFTAs14-Emma Thompson
The ‘Ravishing In Red’ Award | Emma Thompson
Emma is really having a ball this awards season! She been a little reserved in terms of colour so far, but that all changed when she stepped out in this Maria Grachvogel gown. The draping around the shoulders and waistline are oh so flattering, and felt very Vivienne Westwood. Before heading inside to warm up she also wore a spectacular fur collared, full-length white coat over the dress. Normally I’m not a great fan of outerwear covering up gorgeous gowns, but I kind of wish she kept it on for the whole ceremony. It’s such a dramatic look, I love it!
    BAFTAs14-Olga Kurylenko
The Shimmering Mermaid Award | Olga Kurylenko
I really didn’t mean for the title of this award to be insulting but it’s the first thing that popped into my head, because I really truly love Olga’s Burberry gown. There’s an elegant simplicity to the peek-a-boo bodice, before a dramatic lead into the embellished bronze coloured scaled skirt which all adds up to a great red carpet look.
    BAFTAs14-Naomie Harris
The Boldest Use Of Colour Award | Naomie Harris
Giving Lupita a run for her money for most daring use of colour on the red carpet, Naomie’s hot pink Gucci gown was certainly one of the most striking stars of the night. The low lapel neckline and contrasting black accents and accessories add an air of sophistication to the whole look.
    BAFTAs14-Brangelina
The Power Couple Award | Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie
There’s no doubt Brangelina were the stars of the night thanks to their coordinating outfit choices! Both Brad and Ange suited up in matching black tuxedos, Valentino and Saint Laurent respectively. In a sea of gowns and a mass of traditional looks during awards show season, Angelina certainly made her mark as one of the most memorable looks of the evening.
    BAFTAs14-Helen Mirren
The Queen of the Evening Award | Helen Mirren
Recipient of the BAFTA Fellowship award Helen Mirren, looked especially regal in a sequin and tulle Jacques Azagury gown. The entire look is brilliantly dramatic with its midnight blue colour, the embellished bodice, the addition of the bedazzling silver jewellery and the nice contrast with her red clutch and nails.
Let me know what you thought of the BAFTA’s fashion!
