Little poppies, little hell flames,
Do you do no harm? You flicker. I cannot touch you.
I put my hands among the flames. Nothing burns. And it exhausts me to watch you
Flickering like that, wrinkly and clear red, like the skin of a mouth.A mouth just bloodied.
Little bloody skirts! There are fumes that I cannot touch.
Where are your opiates, your nauseous capsules? If I could bleed, or sleep!
If my mouth could marry a hurt like that!Or your liquors seep to me, in this glass capsule,
Dulling and stilling.But colorless. Colorless.

Spotlight On | Hamilton: The Musical
Ok this post has been a long time coming, but I need to wax poetic about the musical phenomenon you’ve probably never heard of.
To sum up the story very briefly, Hamilton is a dramatised version of the life of Alexander Hamilton. Who’s that I hear you cry? Well, he’s one of the lesser known founding fathers of America, the first Treasury Secretary of the United States and established the first National Bank. He’s also the dude on the $10 Bill.
Sound boring? I thought so too – and this is coming from the girl who’ll happily accept a musicals based on the Gospel of St. Matthew, the Newsboys Strike of 1899 and a German play set in the 1800s*. But then guys I picked up the cast album a few months ago and fell head over heels in love.

Kaleidoscope of Loud | New York 2K16
C’mon you really didn’t think I wasn’t going to abuse the crap outta this song before I leave for the Big Apple this week right?
As you all well know – cause I never shut up about this kind of thing – I’m heading back to my favourite city in the world (again!) tomorrow. My bags are packed, I have my ‘dollas’ (holla!) and have finally sorted out a jam packed schedule to boot. My parent’s have been braced for some serious fangirling and general geekery (we are literally staying a few blocks away from Broadway *screams*) and little MCagz is practically pooping herself with excitement for her first trip to the big city (It’s been waiting for you bae). And whilst I’m gallivanting about sans an actual laptop, I’ve scheduled in a post or two in my absence in cause you get sick of me talking about Chelsea Market lobster rolls and how great Lin-Manuel Miranda is.
But…if you are partial to a little wanderlust I’ll be tweeting away (@RCagz) and snapping some pics on Instagram when I get a hold of some decent wi-fi!
It’s a new soundtrack
I could dance to this beat
The lights are so bright
But they never blind me…See you on the other side*
Ria
