  • Festive Fortnight | Christmas Party Outfit Dilemmas Solved!

Now December is here, the festive party season is now underway! I know I’m not the only one struggling to find something to wear for my Christmas do’ this year! So I’ve put together four fail safe outfits to solve some of the festive party outfit dilemmas you may have been having…

    The ‘Cubicle’ to ‘Cocktails’ dilemma
The after work drinks scenario is one of the hardest to dress for. I mean, how acceptable is it to wear a cocktail dress on the 9am commute to work ready for a Cosmopolitan once 6pm rolls around? This outfit is all about planning ahead and stashing those easy accessories and heels to add glamour once everyone clocks out for a tipple!

Little Black Dress, Zara | Sequin jacket, Topshop | Glitter heels, Office | Black fold up shoes, Rollasole | Statement necklace, Accessorize | Oversized ‘Clemmie’ clutch, Mulberry | Stacked rings, Nasty Gal
    The Formal Affair scenario
If you have a particularly fancy work place you may be lucky enough to get have a work do’ that feels like the equivalent to Prom Night. The dilemma here? Having an outfit formal and appropriate for a fancy meal before hitting the dance floor towards the end of the night. I hate to use the phrase but YOLO. Grab a gown and the jewellery to boot!!

Green lace gown, Mango | Embellished hairband, New Look | Heeled sandals, Zara | Long coat, H&M | Gold box clutch bag, River Island

    The ‘Work Family’ Meal scenario
On the other end of the scale, you have the quiet – or not so quiet, depending on how loud your workmates are – sit down, order a bottle of wine (or three) and gossip over delicious food scenario. You’ll still want to dress up, but obviously avoid anything too constricting if you know you’re gonna feel bloated after a three course meal. Focus on the top too and have a little fun with it!

    The ‘Work-Mate-Now-A-Date’ scenario
If you’re lucky enough to be asked out by the cutie by the water cooler then good on you! The phrase ‘dress to impress’ has tripled in importance here, especially if you’ve worked in a very formal setting and all they’ve seen you in is white blouses and tailored trousers. Show a different side to you and experiment a little with your regular work look. A little colour and sparkle is always good, but be wary of your footwear. You don’t want to go tumbling headfirst down the stairs (unless your falling into their arms har de har!)

  • Mul-berries | Berry coloured Autumn accessories

    Mulberry-AW13-berry-colours-trend
Berry colours are everywhere this season, with the high-street and high-end collections hued with these amazing and rich Autumnal shades. Of course, Mulberry are also forever on my radar and after I spotted the Bayswater shoulder bag in this lush Aubergine above I knew I had to see whether they’ve started doing anything else in the same colour. A few hours of browsing later and I’ve managed to compile my favourite of the brand’s pieces in A/W13’s must have shades.

  • Wishlist | Boot Season

    1. Heeled Chelsea boots, Geiger | 2. Burgundy ankle boots, New Look | 3. Tan ankle boots, ASOS | 4. Two-tone ankle boots, Michael Kors | 5. Black and tan knee high boots, River Island | 6. Patterned ankle boots, Anthropologie
Tis’ the season to get back into those boots! One of my favourite things about Autumn is getting back into wearing my favourite type of footwear and this year is no exception. I usually have a few decent pairs I dig out every year but some of them are definitely on the brink of breaking, and with the British weather as erratic as it is, it’s probably a good idea to make sure I’ve got shoes that are a little weather proof!
As usual my brain is steered towards ankles boots as a default. There’s such an amazing range of them at the moment and I’ve seen a lot of coloured and patterned suede/leather material on the high street too. That being said, as much as I want to infuse some colour in my wardrobe, there’s certainly nothing wrong with sticking to the staple brown and black styles either.
What about you guys? Are you ready to delve into boot season?
