  • Grammys 2015 | Red Carpet Fashion Round Up

Arguably the most prestigious night for music, the 57th annual Grammy Awards were held this past Sunday in Los Angeles. The ceremony has a reputation of showcasing some of the most memorable looks in fashion history, so let’s take a look at some of my favourites from last Sunday night’s event.

    Grammys15-Taylor-Swift

    Best Dressed | Taylor Swift

I have to admit I let out an audible gasp when I saw Taylor’s breathtaking Grammy look. My favourite girl wore my favourite designer, Elie Saab, in this knock-out teal blue gown. This hue of the blue works in wonderful contrast with the her fuchsia sandals, and I’m loving this take on the high-low skirt and the sleek shoulder cut-out details. Taylor styled this very simply with a her bob cut, natural make-up and some gorgeous matching earrings.

    Grammys15-Haim

    Squad Envy Award | Haim

Showcasing some serious girl-power styling the girls from Haim rocked up in some fantastic pieces by Chloe and Stella McCartney. Daniella led the charge in a beautiful ivory Stella McCartney suit. THIS is how you do androgynous dressing! It’s also one of the best cut suits I think I’ve ever seen on the red carpet. Baby Haim, Alana, on the other hand went for a black Chloe jumpsuit. The crop top detail is super chic and the added sparkle with her diamond choker just sets of the look perfectly. Este opted for all black netted dress, also by Chloe, with with feathered shoulder details, giving it a very modern day-boho feel. I really love how totally unique each gir’s style is and yet they all seemed tied together with similar beauty looks topped with that rare kind of indie cool.

    Grammys15-Miley-Cyrus

Subtle Yet Sexy Award | Miley Cyrus

I almost missed Miley on the night, as she opted for a more subdued look for this event. She walked the red carpet in a black Alexandre Vautheir gown, with peek-a-boo cut outs across the hips, thighs and and back baring detail. The look definitely comes across as edgy without the need to be outlandish, and is so subtle-y sexy. A quiffed bob cut and simple jewelry completed this ensemble. She completely owns this look with her trademark confidence, love this side of Miley!

    Grammys15-Gwen-Stefani

Best On-Stage Look Award | Gwen Stefani

Oh Gwen I adore you so. Gwen rocked the red carpet in a super edgy Versace jumpsuit, which she’s completely made her own with the styling, turning the original sleeker cut of the trousers into ‘harem’-esque pants. As much as I love this look I was blown away by her ravishing red Versace gown which she wore during her performance with Adam Levine. The thigh high split and bow detail on the hip are equal parts classic Hollywood throwback and rock chic. And she couldn’t go wrong by adding in her signature bold red lip too.

    Grammys15-Katy-Perry

Baby You’re A Firework Award | Katy Perry

Fresh from storming the Superbowl only days before Katy shimmered onto red carpet in a haze of sequins. This Zuhair Murad midi-dress works wonderfully well on her figure and shows off her pretty silver sandals too. I also have to say I’m love this shade of lilac for Katy’s hair, the much softer look works nicely in contrast to the serious ice-queen vibes from her make-up choices.

    Grammys15-Anna-Kendrick

Suited & Booted Award | Anna Kendrick

Like Daniella from Haim, Anna decided to deck herself out in an seriously slick suit with a plunge neck, this time by Band of Outsiders. Smokey eyes and tousled hair accompany what was a simple yet chic look. Can we also take note of the superb tailoring on this, the suit is cut to perfection on Anna’s petite frame.

    Grammys15-Lady-Gaga

The New Classic Award | Lady Gaga

Gaga seems to be shying away from the spotlight a little recently, but there’s no doubt her Brandon Maxwell gown caught my eye on the night. It’s a new take on a tried and tested classic Hollywood vibe, with its shimmering mermaid scales, more risque cut around the bust. Gaga also pumped up the glamour with her retro-inspired hair and smokey make-up too. I’m also equally loving her press room look with its all black feathers and glitter is just as fabulous.

    Grammys15-Beyonce

Ying & Yang Award | Beyonce

Woman of the hour and the D.I.V.A. herself, Beyonce, opted for very subdued look for the red carpet on the night. Her Proenza Schouler gown is tried and tested cut for ‘Yonce but when you look this good who cares really? Also take a gander at the detail on the gown close up, there’s more to this look than it seems. I was definitely was more impressed by her on-stage look, an all white ensemble by Roberto Cavalli which was pretty heavenly.

    Grammys15-Rihanna

Most Dramatic Entrance Award | Rihanna

Now THIS is why I write about awards shows like the Grammys. Rhianna pretty much blew the entire red carpet away with this dramatic, pink Giambatista Valli gown.To put it simply it’s tulle, tulle and more tulle – seriously look how swishy it is! It’s such a left-field look from the singer and will probably be the most divisive gown from the night. As a bit of a magpie for couture I’m in heaven with the sheer opulence of this dress. It would’ve been too ‘out there’ for events like the Oscars or Cannes Film Festival, and far too formal for the Brits, People’s Choice or VMAs, so it’s totally Grammy appropriate.

So what were your favourite looks from the night?

Have you spotted any of your favourites here?

  • Red Carpet Fashion Round Up | Grammys 2014

The biggest night in music, the Grammy Awards, was held in L.A. yesterday evening. Though this year’s performances were the talk of the town – Beyonce & Jay Z, the Macklemore wedding ceremony, Pink on a trapeze and Daft Punk/Pharrell/Stevie Wonder mash-up! – my eyes were firmly pressed to the red carpet. Here are some of my highlights of the night…
Most Dramatic Entrance Award | Katy Perry
Embodying the full spirit of the Grammys, Katy Perry made quite the entrance on the red carpet wearing a spectacular Valentino Couture gown – straight off the Spring 2014 runway! With its tulle bodice and musical notes printed on the skirt, this was one of the gowns from the collection I was hoping would get worn at some point this year. Katy’s bold personality and purple jewelled accessories really pull the whole ensemble together for me! Bravo!
Marvellous Metallics Award | Taylor Swift
Shimmering her way onto the red carpet was the ever sartorially savvy Taylor Swift, wearing a bedazzling Gucci Premiere gown. I love how the gold and silver metallic details on the gown really capture the light so Taylor literally glitters as she moves.
    Grammys14-Anna Kendrick
The Unexpected Stunner Award | Anna Kendrick
Anna was a pleasant surprise at the event, wearing a lilac Azzaro gown and futuristic silver accessories. It was a perfect mix of timeless Hollywood style and modern tailoring and accents, and her hair and make-up is gorgeous!
    Grammys14-Ciara
Best Dress Baby Bump Award | Ciara
Mum-to-be Ciara was simply radiant in a golden Emilio Pucci gown. Despite its bodycon style, Ciara keeps the styling sophisticated and simple with loosely waved hair and bronzed make up.
    Grammys14-Kacey Musgraves
The Pretty In Pink Award | Kacey Musgraves
I hadn’t heard of Kacey before the Grammys, but she really stood out as one of the best dressed in her beautiful Armani Prive dress. Layers of tulle, side swept hair and subtle silver jewellery give of a modern day fairy-princess feel that is just enchanting to look at.
    Grammys14-Pink
The ‘Bedazzling & Bold’ Award | Pink
Bringing in a welcome pop of colour, Pink, went for a sleek red-hot look on the night. Her Johanna Johnson gown works so well with her athletic body and her small silver accessories add a touch of elegance.Grammys14-Foxes
Best of British Award | Foxes
There was a very distinct lack of Brit-cool this year, so I was thrilled to see Foxes (aka Louisa Rose Allen) on the red carpet last night. What was even better was that she wore bold, geometric print Vivienne Westwood too! Despite the impressive pattern, it’s the draping around the shoulders that caught my eye.
    Grammys14-Sara Barielles
The Haute Hippie Award | Sara Barielles
Sara is proving herself to be one of the women I anticipate at award shows and she didn’t let me down here! First off there’s her feathered Blumarine dress, then there’s her exciting choice of coral clutch and matching peep-toes, and finally her self proclaimed ‘Katniss Everdeen-inspired’ hair. The whole look is both stylish and so much fun!
    Grammys14-Kelly Osbourne
No #1 Reporter Award | Kelly Osbourne
Usually on the other side of the red carpet line and critiquing the celebrities looks, this time Kelly captured my attention in this dark Badgley Mischka dress with embellished shoulders. I’ve not been a fan of her purple bob, but this Wintour-esque cut and accompanying purple jewels – including a purple cross from her Dad Ozzy! – add even more drama to the gothic ensemble.
    Grammys14-Beyonce
The ‘You Can Call Me Queen B’ Award | Beyonce
Beyonce, unfortunately missed out on the red carpet to get ready for her incredible opening performance with Jay-Z. But she did change into this sexy sheer Michael Costello for the press room afterwards. The entire body of the gown is embroidered with white floral motifs and daring peek-a-boo cut outs. Finished off with a bold red lip and messy bob cut, little else was needed when you wear a showstopper like this!

  • The Grammy Awards 2013 | Red carpet fashion round up

Whilst actors were braving the rain in London for the BAFTAs, the music industry were gearing up for 55th Annual Grammy Awards were held in a sunnier L.A. this past Sunday. As usual it was a glitzy and outrageously glamorous affair, check out some of the highlights below.
You could probably see my best dressed from a mile off! Taylor Swift once again stole the show for me in a white J.Mendel gown with silver detailing. Elegant as always this look was styled with simple make up and a pretty heidi braid. It seems like it was a night for the country singers because Carrie Underwood came a close number #2 to Ms Swift! While Taylor went for white, Carrie went for a black lace gown by Roberto Cavalli. But don’t be fooled, she hasn’t gone all gothic on us! The whole look is classic Hollywood glamour and simply beautiful.

As always my eye was on the lookout for some Brit representation at the event. Florence Welch, went for an unusual green Givenchy Couture gown on the night. With it’s spiked shoulder details and shiny material I’m very much on the fence about this one, since she usually goes for something ethereal looking rather than space age (bar her Bestival outfits). The whole looks left me thinking this is perhapes a little too Gaga for Flo.
Adele is out of the black Burberry and into a patterned red Valentino Couture dress. I’m happy she’s showing some colour, but the print and cut of the dress feels a little too frumpy for Adele.
Carly Rae Jepsen went for a vampish Roberto Cavalli number, with sleek hair and dark make up, sometimes I forget this ‘Call Me Maybe’ singer is 27 years old! Rihanna danced with the devil in a firey red Azzedine Alaia gown. Though the colour was hot, Rihanna’s look was surprisingly demure for once styled with loose ombre hair.

    AK KO
As soon as I saw the twit pic of Alicia Keys‘ outfit I knew I would be breathing a sigh of relief! Her sleek minimalist Azzedine Alaia gown with sexy cut outs is a 100% improvement on anything she’s worn before. I don’t even mind the bouffant hair-do – as it shows of the dress in full. Kelly Osbourne seems to have gotten my memo and 1. tied that god-awful hair of her’s back 2. went for a Paule Ka dress that is eye catching yet wonderfully simple. Please keep this up Kelly!!
With Gaga AND Minaj noticeably absent at the show I had to look elsewhere to find some kooky-ness. Katy booby Perry is definitely never someone to shy away from the spot light and despite it’s bright colour her Gucci gown is rather demure for the singer…until you spot the elephant in the room peep out of that keyhole detail in the dress…Er…Despite this I think she looks great! Jannelle Monet was in her standard uniform suit and tie combo, this time with embellished lapels. Kimbra accepted her award in a Florence Welch-worthy Jaime Lee Major gown. This may be a divider but I love this from the OTT tulle to the gold embellishments, Kimbra is definitely indie enough to pull it off.
Right I know it’s the Grammys Kelly Rowland but hmmm….not sure about this one. On paper Kelly in a sleek black Georges Chakra gown with sheer panels to highlight her body sounds great, but in action she’s left looking a little overexposed (wasn’t there a no boobs or bums rule this year?). Jennifer Lopez normally brings a heavy hit of D.I.V.A. her Anthony Vaccarello dress makes her look like she’s wearing a duvet.

    BK SK

And finally the Knowles sisters were out on the town, I always feel like people are constantly pitting them against each other but their two Grammy outfits show me why you shouldn’t. Beyonce shyed away from the attention – well as much as Beyonce can – in a black and white geometric Osman jumpsuit. A pop of red lips and Sasha Fierce pose was all she needed work that spotlight. Never one to be afraid of colour Solange wore a glittering green Ralph & Russo Couture gown paired with coral pumps and her trademark afro hair do. Too much? Not for this Knowles. Two sisters and two very unique styles.
