  • Hair Inspiration: The Faux Bob

    Something a little different!
You guys should know by now that I can’t resist a big ol’ movie premiere. So when the cast of the Dark Knight Rises arrived in London this week, I was on hitting up my favourite gossip sites to get a glimpse of the red carpet style. But whilst everyone was gawping at Anne Hathaway her lovely glittering gown, I took note of the gorgeous Marion Cotillard. Not only was her styling choices on point, but her hairstyle really caught my attention.
Marion usually sports long dark locks either loose or swept up into a chignon, but she went for volume in an amazing faux bob.
If you remember, I made the New Year’s Resolution to experiment with my hairstyles and this one seems like one for me to try out now that my hair’s grown out.

The faux bob is a surprisingly popular style on the red carpet. Normally curled and paired with retro styling [a la Taylor Swift] or a messy alternative to the more formal up-do. It’s perfect for those who are longing to try out the shorter hairstyle but aren’t quite brave enough to go for the chop yet!
I’ve browsed around YouTube for a while for a decent tutorial and have embedded two of my favourites, one for a more ‘everyday’ look and the other for nights out.
So what do you think? Will you be giving this look a go?

    Keep on wishing…

  • One to watch | Elizabeth Banks

Now that all the glitz and hype around the Met Gala this week has calmed down a little bit, I thought I’d concentrate my eye on one lady who really captured my attention at the event.
Elizabeth Banks stormed the event in dividing opinions in a bold Mary Katrantzou gown. For many it was too much, but I expected no less from Ms Banks.
Pre-2012/2011 Elizabeth Banks was on my radar for two things, her comedic turns in Scrubs/30 Rock and her recurring roles in Rom-Coms and silly Comedies like ‘Definitely, Maybe’, ‘Role Models’ and ‘Zack and Miri make a porno’.
This year she burst in the forefront of the fashion pack after her impressive run during The Hunger Games press tour. Looking back at her red carpet choices, there’s definitely no static formula. She loves colour, she isn’t afraid of bold prints and very much embraces textures and daring architecture. In short she’s a fashion chameleon.
When it comes to her side walk style, she’s much slicker and chic-er, favouring a dark palette of colours and classic accessories. But that doesn’t make her boring. Whether in Versace or Marc Jacobs you know she’ll work her look and is for sure someone you want to keep an eye out for (especially with two more Hunger Games movies to come! Yay more press tours!).

  • Got a craving for some sunshine: Sydney Fashion Week Inspiration

A quick post to share some photos I stumbled across between essay writing & Uni. Taken by Tommy Ton and were featured on Style.com, these sidewalk style photos from Sydney fashion week were enough to have me wishing the sun would come back to the UK. There’s just so much colour! I love it!
