  • Review | Revlon Lip Butter ‘Candy Apple’

Revlon Lip Butter (‘Candy Apple’), £7.99 (currently £5, Superdrug)
I started using these Revlon Lip Butters during time when pretty much every single blogger was hyping it up. Back then I only stuck to the nude or pink pigmented shades, but whilst killing time before I got the bus I decided to treat myself and go a little outside my comfort zone (plus it was on offer!). I’m gonna write more about the pigment than the actual lip butter itself – because I’m sure you’ve seen enough reviews about how creamy and moisturising the formula is!
As someone who doesn’t wear lipsticks/lip balms very often, the colour from the tube is pretty daunting looking. The outer packaging itself has a more burnt orange tone, with the actual stick a more traditional warm toned red. So, you can imagine I was thankful that this was a more sheer than I expected. Top left swatch is the pigment straight on, the right is after a couple of swipes, so if you’re after a balm that gives you a vivid pop of colour this probably isn’t for you. If, however, you’re like me and pretty under-experienced when it comes to wearing red lips then this is a nice starter product to get you on your way.

  • Review | Barry M Matte Nail Paint

Barry M Matte Nail Paint (#Crush), £3.99, from Boots
I’ve finally gotten round to trying out this part of the Barry M range after ages um-ing and ah-ing about it. I’ve been really into Autumnal shades lately so picked up ‘Crush’. From the bottle it’s a darker blood red, more subtle than your usual red polish, but actually finishes in more of burgundy colour once it dries into the matte.
I used two coats but it’s fairly easy to get decent coverage with one generous coat. Though the matte effect does help you see when the polish has actually dried, I would advise waiting a little longer for the polish to set, as the formula’s quite thick imperfections and smudges are harder to correct. For £3.99 it’s your standard Barry M quality though, which is never too bad for the price!
  • Review | Wacom Bamboo Digital Pen & Tablet

Wacom Bamboo Digital Pen & Tablet, £49.95*
Exciting new shiny thing! My lovely placement team gifted me with some Apple Store vouchers when I left and instead of spending on actual Apple products – fail – I decided to invest in something I’ve put on my Christmas/Birthday wish lists for forever. Yep…a Wacom Bamboo tablet!
The rather exciting package came with the tablet itself, wireless pen and free drawing programmes. At the moment I’m mainly using it to add writing to blog photos and as an external mouse, but am hopefully going to get going with blog graphics for here and Blogger’s Bookshelf posts. I’m hoping as time goes on I’ll be using it a little more for graphic design and, eventually, illustration again – I’ve not had time to draw in so long! All in all, awesome! I love using it, was so easy to install (plug into the USB and install the CD software) and is so comfortable to use too. Win :)

*disclaimer: Bamboo tablet purchased in part with an Apple store gift voucher from my placement team and with my own money.
