  • Review: Barry M ‘Gelly’ Hi-Shine

Barry M Hi-Shine ‘Gelly’ Nails in ‘Lychee’, £3.99 from Boots

I’m usually a little behind on new nail trends, but with Boots doing 3 for 2 I ended picking this little Barry M bottle up too.
I’m not sure what I expected this to be like, having only glanced at a few other blogger reviews on this. As they’re called ‘Gelly’ nails I guess my assumption would’ve been a rubber texture nail polish – in line with the texture trend coming through.
The range is actually high-gloss and shine finish, which seems bog standard with a lot of the high range polishes, with one coat provided enough coverage and two offering a better finish. Without a topcoat it lasted about a week with little to no chipping, which compared to other Barry M products I’ve used is extremely  impressive. The whole range of colours is quite bright, but ‘Lychee‘ offers a nice and neutral base, perfect for nail art or for a subtle day-to-day polish for work. The only downside I’ve found is, due to it’s thickness, it takes a while longer to dry, but that’s only a minor flaw.
Will definitely be taking a gander at buying the other shades!

  • Review: Burberry ‘Weekend’

    Burberry Weekend lid
    Burberry Weekend bottle
Burberry ‘Weekend’ for women eau de parfum | £25.50 available at Boots

I got this little gem for Christmas this year and thought it would be a nice introduction into the world of luxury perfume. Nothing says coveted British brand quite like Burberry and I was pleasantly surprised to find this under the Christmas tree, c/o my lovely ‘rents. For such a small bottle it certainly packs a punch of floral tones, and if you’re not careful can come across as overpowering. A small spritz however is just, with hints of vanilla and warm Summer-y scents that remind me of the English countryside. ‘Weekend’ definitely lives up to it’s name, with it’s light daytime scent and golden packaging – embellished with Burberry’s signature style.

  • Review: Nivea Refreshingly Soft Moisturising Cream

As we’re now deep in the Winter months – how is it December already? – harsh wind and the cold means my skin takes a battering. It’s taken me a long time to find a decent moisturiser that will hydrate my face for the whole day. I was recommended this cream by my friend and a couple of other beauty bloggers on Twitter and this is about to turn into a rave review people!
I’m used to moisturisers simply fading away after a few hours but Nivea’s cream is perfect for keeping my face soft in the cold. As someone with fairly sensitive skin my main concern was that it would soothe my skin as well as hydrate it, which the product does perfectly. It’s admittedly heavy, but that’s what’s needed at this time of year and I will most likely switch back to a lighter cream once the Summer comes around again. The great thing about this particular cream is that it’s not limited for just facial use but I’ve used it on my hands and neck. 10/10 for this one! Nivea have got a new fan!
