  • Runway Spotlight | Fairytale Romance at Valentino Couture S14

Valentino Couture S14 details Valentino Couture S14 gowns Valentino Couture S14 tulle
    Valentino Couture S14 minimalist gowns
We may be in the swing of fashion week season but there’s one collection that I can’t stop thinking about.
Rich with earthy, woodland tones, the Valentino Couture offering felt more Autumnal than Spring. As always the collection was rife with drama, not surprising as designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli drew inspiration from 55 classic operas. One of my favourite pieces – already worn by Katy Perry – was embroidered with Verdi’s La Traviata score and others influenced by the characters from others such as La Boheme and Carmen. There was an abundance of ballerina tulle, topped off with intricate embroidered imagery taken from nature, and delicate lace.
Though the more detailed and opulent pieces were certainly the stars of the show, there’s always a place in my heart for the simple minimalist gowns too.

Thoughts on Valentino? What were your favourite pieces from the collection?
  • Northern Downpour | Inspiration from Copenhagen Fashion Week

Copenhagen Fashion Week doesn’t get as much press as it’s bigger name counterparts, but the collections that showcase there definitely deserve as much love. As the city plays host to the Nordic Region’s largest fashion events, there’s such a huge variety of styles shown over its duration. However one thing present in all of the collections is a the region’s unique take on design.
Above are four of my favourite collections from the A/W14 season and as always the use of layering, marriage of menswear and ladylike cuts, and strikingly simple but ‘forever classic’ pieces are what makes the looks during Copenhagen Fashion Week some of the most translatable designer collections to wear.
If you want to get on board with the trends from the shows early – and why wouldn’t you, with the weather the state it is at the moment! – , I’ve picked out a couple of my favourites from here, there and everywhere to help you get on your way.

Look out for oversized knits, structured boyfriend coats, leather detailing, rustic toned footwear, menswear tailoring, dark earthy hues but accompanied by occasional pop of colour.
Thoughts on Copenhagen Fashion Week? Is it on par with it’s big flashy counterparts?
  • Two Sides | Moschino Cheap & Chic Resort 2014

    Moschino-Cheap-and-Chic-prep
Am a little late to the party when it comes to flailing over this one but boy is it a good ‘un. Moschino’s Cheap & Cheap Resort collection hit the catwalks back at the end of May in New York, and this, coupled with the wonderful Summer sunshine is a welcome burst of colourful inspiration.
Full of candy shades and light, bright pieces, Moschino seems to have captured two distinctive Summer styles.
The one above is Blair Waldorf circa Season 1 of Gossip Girl – think 60’s inspired cuts, girl-y skirts and pretty twinsets and cardigans – with the looks providing great inspiration for the office, Summer weddings or weekend breaks in country estates.
On the flipside, the looks below scream Williamsburg/So-cal hipster. Coachella may be far in the distance now, but the looks wouldn’t be out of place at British gatherings such as such as Bestival or Latitude – I can also totally see the like of Alexa Chung and Florence Welch rocking the first and fourth looks.

I’m leaning towards the first set, simply for practicality – no festivals for me this Summer *boo* – but the second lot look so comfy to chillax in!
Which side of Moschino’s collection are you favouring?
