  • Come Rain Or Shine | Spring Layering

Outfit 1: Striped Dress, Pull & Bear | Beige Mac, Uniqlo | Fine Knit Jumper, H&M | Ankle Boots, Modcloth
Outfit 3: Cropped jumper, River Island | Polka-dot Jeans, Vanmildert | Faux Leather Jacket, Forever 21 | Ballet Flats, ASOS

Spring is here and so is that wonderfully erratic British weather that we love! Dressing during this season can be pretty tricky with the temperature dropping and rising every few hours. You don’t want to be caught out in the rain or get too stuffy in huge winter clothes, so what’s the trick to surviving the elements? Spring layering!
Above are three simple outfits designed to deal with the changing climate. The first is a simple striped dress and ankle boots combo, which would be perfectly fine for the summer months but in the spring breeze a coat and jumper would probably be a welcome addition too. Keep the look light with a mint green jumper.
The second takes some of my favourite trends from winter, the blanket coat and leather look leggings, and works in two of my own personal Spring staples, the denim shirt and sneakers. The great thing about the denim shirt is the sheer panelling on the back, which will come in handy if the temperature does rise a little and you need a some breeze in your outfit.
The final outfit is something a little edgy. The polka dot jeans and jacket scream winter wardrobe but are updated with the pastel jumper and ballet flats. This one will keep you warm enough in the morning, but just shed the jacket and jumper is thin in enough to keep you cool!

  • Spring Couture 2014 Red Carpet Wishlist

I’ve waxed poetic about this year’s Couture collections already, but as we’re in the midst of awards season we’ve seen a couple of the looks snapped up by celebs on the red carpet in the past few weeks. So as we’re in a bit of break before some of the bigger ceremonies I’ve picked out some of my favourites from this season, as well as who I’m hoping will be wearing them on the red carpet.
    CoutureS14wishlist-Christian Dior Ulyana Sergeenko
    Christian Dior
    Jennifer Lawrence//Emma Stone//Marion Cotillard
Kicking things off with Dior! I’d love to see a full length version of this gown at the Oscars – or I could live with the shorter runway version at a less formal event. The most obvious choice for this one would be Jennifer, she’s already worn very similar on the red carpet already, but I also reckon Emma and Marion could pull this fashion forward look off with much flair!
    Ulyana Sergeenko
    Penelope Cruz//Scarlett Johansson//Christina Hendricks
With it’s draping around the hips, sweetheart neckline and sumptuous fabric, this gown is all about accentuating natural curves. The women I’ve picked for this one (Penelope, Scarlett and Christina) certainly have the confidence to pull this off.
    CoutureS14wishlist-Bouchara Jarra Valentino
    Bouchra Jarrar
    Kerry Washington//Lupita Nyong’o//Gwyneth Paltrow
Something a little on the minimalist side, but none the less beautiful, this shade of this Bouchra gown is quite breathtaking. As for who I’ve picked to carry this gown off, Lupita and Gwyneth are both big fans of simple but stunning red carpet ensembles so would definitely be at home in this. I also think Kerry would look radiant in this colour too, and the cut of the gown would also showcase her baby bump perfectly.
    Valentino
    Julia Roberts//Karen Gillan//Jennifer Lopez
The entire Valentino collection was red carpet worthy, but this look stood out as something a little different. A jumpsuit on the red carpet is extremely hard to pull off and I’ve picked three completely contrasting women who I think could dare to do it.
Julia Roberts is just about finding her feet on the red carpet again. I loved her pink jumpsuit at the SAG Awards and would love for her to take a risk with this one too. Is it wishful thinking Karen will be wearing this to something like the BAFTAs this year? Either way the nude shade would look amazing with her porcelain complexion and I could see her adding a few quirky touches to it too!
And of course, the diva-licous JLow is a woman who I could definitely see rocking this alongside some fabulous jewellery and killer attitude.
    CoutureS14wishlist-Alexis Mabille Elie Saab
    Alexis Mabille
    Helen Mirren//Octavia Spencer//Florence Welch
This ethereal Alexis Mabille gown is one of those looks that can easily be translated across all types of body shape and skin tone. An easy pick for this one would be Helen Mirren, who would look incredibly regal in this number. I’ve also picked up on Octavia Spencer, who’s worn this shade of ivory on the red carpet before and I’d love to see this more flowing cut on her too. Now, it isn’t likely Florence Welch will be making it to the red carpet, except perhaps for the BRITs, but I think she could even work this gown for a stage outfit, right?
    Elie Saab
    Amy Adams//Fan Bing Bing//Elizabeth Banks
And of course, it wouldn’t be a red carpet season without a little Elie Saab. This dress was a showstopper on the runway and you’d need someone pretty special to make it a showstopper on the red carpet too! The three ladies I’ve listed certainly fit the bill. It’s no question that Amy would look stunning in this gown, she’s done the princess look before, but on her it never gets old! Fan Bing Bing and couture go together like bread and butter. The bigger the better should be her motto, so this is perfect for her. And Elizabeth Banks is already one of my favourites for her unexpected turns on the red carpet, I’d love to see her take this gown and pull of a full on classic Hollywood look.

So, let me know what you think!
Were there any pieces from the collections you want to see on the red carpet too?

Tis’ the season to take on next season’s trends! Rebecca Taylor‘s pretty feminine style with an infusion of sport luxe was one of my favourites from the New York runway. It was fresh and definitely encompassed everything exciting about a new Spring collection, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be worn during Autumn/Winter! The pastel colour scheme is a trend that’s manage to work its way into the high streets already, so I’ve picked out some of my favourites to help you rock this trend a few months early…
