    Blah blah another Spring post blah blah… :P I think it’s safe to say that the blogging world has caught a bit of Spring fever and what better way to jump on that bandwagon than to gather a little bit of inspiration from the natural world and add some floral prints to your wardrobe.

    The ‘Cath Kidston’ Floral

    I’ve lovingly nicknamed this one but I think you know the type of floral print on about. I’m talking abou the types of florals you’ll see in the store splashed across every Cath Kidston store. It’s super prim and very pretty, using pink rose buds on pale pastel backdrops. This print is a perfect accompaniment to quaint English tea rooms and Spring strolls in the park.

    The 70s Floral

    There’s no escaping the big 70s revival trend that’s come through on the highstreet. No longer exiled to the depths of fashion Siberia, 70s florals are loud, over the top and oh so on trend right now. Think earthy tones in oranges, mustard yellows and browns with dashes of white for detail. The flowers themselves range from carnations to sunflowers to daisies, and can either come in small ditsy formations or larger than life printwork.

    The Graphic Floral

    If you’re adverse to tradition or want to try something a bit different, go digital and bring florals into the 21st century. Instead of your standard illustrated prints think photographic images and pixelated petals, spattered amongst bold geometric designs.

    The Watercolour Floral

    These are the kinds of florals that will see you through the Spring transition and right into Summer festival season. These pieces are more subtle and often printed on sheer fabrics with lily, bluebells, and petal blossoms almost fading into the backdrop.

  • Top 5 Soundtracks To Make You Fall In Love With Musicals

    Hey guys, did you know I’m into musicals? (*cue sarcastic shouts of ‘Nah really Ria I had no idea?! That is brand new information to us!’) I’m a huge advocate of converting every single person I know into a musical theatre fan and seeing as the Olivier Awards are being held this weekend in London, I thought it’d be nice to extend this out into my blogging world too – you have been warned!

    Of course the most important part of the musical is the music and as in most cases it’s super hard to actually go see a show (they’re either super expensive, all the way in London or New York, or unfortunately closed) But musical theatre soundtracks become the next best way to experience the magic.

    Now I know a few of you are novices in this art form so I’m not gonna throw something weird or outrageous like Hedwig and the Angry Inch or Spring Awakening at you – though do look up the original cast recordings for those they’re freaking incredible – I thought I’d introduce you to a few soundtracks that’ll get you falling in love with the genre.

    They may not be the most obvious choices, but they are some of my favourites. So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

  • Style Resolutions Update | The All-Weather Trench Coat

    Hello all, I’d like to welcome the newest addition to the RCagz clan ^_^ 3 months in and I’ve finally ticked off my first item from this year’s style resolutions (yeah remember those).

    I’ve been eyeing up this trench coat from The Gap for the past 2 months – its right on the high street on my way home from work, oh the hours I’ve spent wistfully staring at it in the window displays. I’ve tried it on multiple times, I even hinted at the ‘rents to get it for my birthday at the end of the month. But as I was far too impatient – and The Gap rather helpfully put it in their mid-season sale with 50% off, SCORE! – I took the plunge and decided to invest. And guys, I’m totally in love.

    It’s that wonderfully classic caramel colour, with tortoise shell style buttons, and sits so comfy on my shoulders and around le bust. The length sits a little long – one of the perils of being petite! – but I quite like it that way.

    I’m sure this is soon to be a wardrobe staple for me in the coming months to counteract the erratic British weather!
