  • A Year In Workwear | The mini experiment

    year-in-workwear-experiment
Something a little different and a look back at a mini experiment I’ve been doing on the sly for the past year.
So as you guys know I took on a year-long professional work placement as part of my Uni course – read more about my experience here. As my placement would be in a very formal office setting I knew any style blogging would go out of the window because of the lack of time I’d have to shoot photos and the fact that I wouldn’t be wearing anything particularly interesting. Despite this I wanted to do something sartorially inclined.  So I decided to take a quick outfit photo for every day I worked, just to see what would happen. Tedious? Perhaps, but the outcome is pretty cool.
What you can see in the header about is just some of the 277 Instagram-ed images of my workwear outfits, not in chronological order but you get the idea. As would be expected there’s a lot of repetition and outfit recycling. I also have my favourite pieces, namely my polka dot clothes, skater skirts, loose blouses, and fitted blue dress. Blazers did make an appearance for days when I needed to look a little smarter, but as I got more comfortable with the firm I stuck to my cardigans. Footwear stayed static for the most part, I commuted for the most of the first few months so practicality took over from style, so flats and my sturdy black boots came in for Winter. As Spring/Summer kicked in and I was transferred to an office closer to me I made sure to keep a pair of smart heels in my desk drawer. I also found days when I really couldn’t be bothered though, but that life right?
I’m not sure what my original aim was, but I have found myself veering towards a specific style now. I also now have a bank of outfits to choose from and that I know that I’m comfortable in for those scary graduate interviews in the coming year!
  • Hitting The Books | Back To Uni Wishlist

    back-to-university-wishlist
I start back at University this week! I’m nearly sorted with everything before I have to go back but there are, of course, a couple of things I have on a wishlist before I start up again.
    1. Urban Outfitters notebook | Because hey all of my ideas are brilliant right? ;)
    2. Laptop satchel | There are a few of these for my Macbook I want but I’m loving the Autumnal print of this stachel
    3. Topshop boots | Rejoicing because we’re finally in boot season. As always I’m looking to add to my collection and I will definitely be looking out for this Topshop pair in the coming weeks.
    4. Orla Kiely purse | Much like the satchel, I think it’s the Autumnal colours that’s got me lusting after this purse.
    5. Elemental Energy palette | Now that I have a bit more time on my hands, make-up is very much on my mind. I’ve never been one to go for much colour on my eyes, but I love this palette. Again the rustic colours are great for daytime, but the darker hues will look cool with darker evenings on their way.
    6. Plume seven year pen | This pen is supposed to be able to write 1.7m a day for seven years…pft I’m actually tempted to invest in this to see whether it would last a final year University course writing lectures notes, seminar work and copious revision pages.
    7. Comic Book print water bottle | Though I have no doubt coffee will be my best friend this year, I do need to make sure I’m topping up the caffine with a healthy dose of water too. Plus, y’know, comic book print waterbottle…so yeah.
    8. Tartan scarf | Tartan is everywhere this a/w! It’s definitely a trend I want to get behind, so this scarf is a nice and subtle everyday nod to it.

    Two Weeks #10
    – Changing room selfie – New berry coloured bits & pieces – Autumn is here! – Sickeningly good burger at The Rockstone – Health kick salad – Aesthetic magazine arrived, woop – starting five books in two weeks. Oops – Tired Saturday selfie – Sweet & Salted popcorn – The reason this post is late, new wardrobe/room arrangement –

It’s been all systems go in terms of blogging organisation both here at Wishing For Chanel and Blogger’s Bookshelf. I’ve got editorial calendars running for both blogs and some posts already scheduled to go up the next few weeks!
That being said I feel like I’ve been on holiday the past two weeks, which I kinda of have considering I’m no longer working 6 days a week. Not gonna lie, I’ve been enjoying having nothing to do but chain watch web series on YouTube, watch with my huge backlog of unread blogs, and watch fashion week shows from afar. Have also been having some much needed catch ups with friends over copious amounts of food, most of them have now graduated so it’s good to have them home.
I’ve been relishing this free time since getting my University timetable about a week ago and I’m already freaking out a little about starting. Graduation and exams feels so far away but I know this will be the fastest school year ever and the one that will count the most! Eek!
