A Year In Workwear | The mini experiment

Something a little different and a look back at a mini experiment I’ve been doing on the sly for the past year.
So as you guys know I took on a year-long professional work placement as part of my Uni course – read more about my experience here. As my placement would be in a very formal office setting I knew any style blogging would go out of the window because of the lack of time I’d have to shoot photos and the fact that I wouldn’t be wearing anything particularly interesting. Despite this I wanted to do something sartorially inclined.  So I decided to take a quick outfit photo for every day I worked, just to see what would happen. Tedious? Perhaps, but the outcome is pretty cool.
What you can see in the header about is just some of the 277 Instagram-ed images of my workwear outfits, not in chronological order but you get the idea. As would be expected there’s a lot of repetition and outfit recycling. I also have my favourite pieces, namely my polka dot clothes, skater skirts, loose blouses, and fitted blue dress. Blazers did make an appearance for days when I needed to look a little smarter, but as I got more comfortable with the firm I stuck to my cardigans. Footwear stayed static for the most part, I commuted for the most of the first few months so practicality took over from style, so flats and my sturdy black boots came in for Winter. As Spring/Summer kicked in and I was transferred to an office closer to me I made sure to keep a pair of smart heels in my desk drawer. I also found days when I really couldn’t be bothered though, but that life right?
I’m not sure what my original aim was, but I have found myself veering towards a specific style now. I also now have a bank of outfits to choose from and that I know that I’m comfortable in for those scary graduate interviews in the coming year!
