I feel like I haven’t done anything very exciting, but looking back it’s been a hectic ol’ two weeks – lol what’s new?
The heat is here in the UK and I am totally unprepared. I feel like Summer’s hit us like a tonne of bricks this year, humidity and all (don’t mock us Americans, we’re not used to this!). I’m definitely stuck in a style rut whilst trying to dress for placement. I wanna be smart but I’m longing to wear shorts and flip flops to the office. On top of this I seem to be plagued with a nasty round of hayfever, which is not going anywhere soon. Waking up sneezing, eyes running and a hacking cough is just not cool
Alas, I have been trying to enjoy what will most likely be it for British Summer Time. I headed up to my local Mela Festival – as an attendee not participant this year, which meant I could actually wander around with the fam and soak up the sun a bit. I also got to head up to my placement’s London office for the first time – probably a good time seeing as I leave at the end of August! – it was sweltering, with no air circulation and felt like you were pushing yourself through heated fog sometimes. It was probably the first time in my life that I thought ‘Nah, I’ll give living in the City a miss’. This was all turned around when I met up with my old friend T after work and wandered down the South Bank, watching people along the bank with their cold drinks, ice-creams, taking in the sights and sounds of music and artwork that’s on display at the moment, not to mention getting to casually spy some of the most famous landmarks in the world as we walked the long way round from Central London to Waterloo instead of braving the Tube because it was so sunny…ok maybe I still do want to live in the City after all. Thursday eve was spent with my girls and loosing my Sprinkles Gelato virginity with a huge plate of white chocolate and strawberry waffles with ice-cream – NOM – and some refreshing cocktails to wind down the night.
In fact looking at the paragraph…maybe Summer ain’t so bad – just gotta make sure I’m set up with doses of hayfever tablets and tissues every time I go out eh?

p.s. edit [14.7.2013] Did this post last night pre-hearing the news about Cory Monteith. As a huge, self confessed, unashamed Gleek I’m still in shock that he’s passed away, he’s was an exceptionally talented man who inspired many people and will hopefully continue to inspire more with his memory. RIP Cory, the Glee fandom will surely miss you just as much as your friends and family right now.

    Two Weeks #5
    – Harry: A History, Melissa Anelli – chilling at my friend’s flat – Turtle Bay – Catch up with friends – Charity shop haul – Starting Harry & 50 days till LeakyCon – New hair! – Me & le Sis – Cats the musical at the Mayflower – Got our programme signed- Maccy D’s after a long weekend working – Day #238 – Nature in the sunshine – Day #239 – Day #240 – Day #241 – Day #242 – Floral headband – New nails, Essie – Blue skies – AVPSY rewatch –

Hi all, hope you’re enjoying the sunshine – or cursing at the rain from what I’ve seen on the weather reports, sorry North of England!
I had a good week of work since I last wrote and spent most of it relaxing and having a good catch up with some friends. A couple of old college friends are now back for good from University and we had a nice girly gossip over cocktails and Caribbean food at Turtle Bay – which is an awesome restaurant if anyone looking for a nice place to try in Southampton. I’ve definitely missed these girls since being on placement and hopefully I can see them more now that most of them are home! Also, as you saw from my last post I also caught up with an old friend and got my hair done at the same time. I’m still getting used to the shorter crop, but the extra weight off my head has been very much welcome with the humid temperatures at the moment.
As always I had plenty of opportunity to get back into my musical theatre obsession after watching Cats at the Mayflower. Seriously watching a show like that makes me want to go home, start dance classes and do layouts all day…none of which I did because, let’s face it, I can’t dance too well anymore lol.
Another obession-y tick that’s been playing in my mind has been LeakyCon. Their Portland Convention was held this past weekend – I believe it’s just wrapping up now – which means all focus will be shifting to the London Convention, which I’m headed to, in exactly 39 days. Let’s just say if the Portland festivities are anything to go by, London is sure gonna be awesome! And finishing Harry: A History recently has done nothing but fuel the excitement for me :)

    Two Weeks #4
    – Joe Brooks, The Boy & the Broken Machine – Day #228 – Day # 229– Day #230 – New Essie polish – Day #231 – sunshine! – Day #232 – Bubbley bath – wiwt to work + Summer maxi skirt – Charity books & Marie Claire – A little vino – Tidying my room turns up some weird stuff – Tony Award catch up = epic – Day #233 – Company mag ‘blog research’ – Day #234 – Day #235 – Day #236 – Making Friday night dinner – Day #237 – Lunch break – Lusting over shoes – Happy Father’s Day :) –

So I’m currently sat on my bed writing this listening to McFLY and Birdy, having finished up Father’s day lunch with the fam – Happy Father’s Day Dad! Also went for a pretty good run this morning – it’s getting easier, still baby steps though – and now have a whole week off from work to look forward to. To say the past two weeks have been hectic is perhaps a bit of an understatement. With an office move at my placement, plus the general hectic-ness of said placement, and the impending deadline of handing in my dissertation proposal for next year (I hit the submit button last Thursday, eep!) I’ve been getting home and collapsing to sleep most days. It’s absolutely mental thinking I only have about 2 and a half months left of this internship – which sounds like forever but it speeding by far too quickly for my liking. It’s not nice thinking about leaving already but hard considering I need to starting work out what I need to train my replacement on…*sad face*.
But enough of sad things. With the Tony Award excitement of last Sunday, the burst of Summer sunshine – which seems to have disappeared, come back! – and the promise of meet ups with old friends now back from Uni, some of whom I haven’t seen in months, I’m up for some R&R this week. Which, let’s be honest, will probably involve me sat on my bed like right now writing blog posts and hitting repeat on the latest Joe Brook album. Ah a blogger’s life for me =)
