Phew well it’s been a busy two weeks! First of all…turning 21. Yep that happened. Birthdays are weird things, especially big ticket age like 21 years old, you kinda expect to change overnight but nope. I’m still the same ol’ nerdy little me ^_^ This was only reinforced by my present haul of nerdy Harry Potter, Musical Theatre and Literature gifts from my family and best friend. I had a chill one, which you can read about from my birthday post from the other day.
Apart from the excitement (?) of now really being ‘in my 20’s’ I’ve been taking my blog up to next level with Blog Inc (which I’m very tempted to review soon, it’s so good) and…*drum roll* a brand new camera! I bought a new Olympus D-750. It’s a compact but from what I’ve played around with so far, it’s pretty decent for someone like me who’s a hobbyist blogger. A new camera hopefully means more photography because…let’s face it, it’s my new play thing and I love it.
I know I’ve been saying the past few weeks that I’m updating and trying out new content and graphics blah blah blah…but really now I’m rolling it out starting with these posts. This weeks are turning into two week posts and means I now have an extra blogging spot to write about other things! Hopefully I can keep this. Keep an eye out for other new/improved bits and pieces in the coming weeks =)

  • Haul | Student Lock-In & Topshop

I don’t usually do haul posts, as I tend to spend sporadically. But I thought it would make a nice change.
The first lot of bits are from the West Quay Student Lock-In last week. I didn’t go overboard, as I’m technically supposed to saving instead of spending at the moment, but I did pick up a couple of cool rings and the Kelly Brook eyeshadow set from New Look. I’m hoping to review the eyeshadow palette when I actually get time to take some decent photos. I also finally found a pair of cat-eyed sunglasses that a) are adorable and b) look half decent on me. Hopefully I can get some use out of them this Bank Holiday!
The last little bit was a somewhat spontaneous spend. I found these boots in the Southampton TopShop but they didn’t have my size. Whilst milling around towards the end of day in Salisbury on Sunday I popped into TopShop there and low and behold…they had these in my size! I took it as fate, kind of regretting the £30 sale price but talking myself into keeping them as they used to be around £70. So I’m calling this a bargain, shoving the guilt into my wardrobe and calling it a personal birthday treat.
Let me know what you think of this style of post? Like-y? No-likey?

  • 21 & Over

    Birthday-cake
Yesterday I turned the big 21. It was pretty chill one, I had four days off to relax and took myself away from the computer.

Kicking things off a little early with Friday night Italian feast courtesy of my mum, before heading off for a day trip to Salisbury on the Saturday for a day trip. We arrived and had lunch at The Market Inn, making sure we avoided the showers before walking up to Salisbury Cathedral. We managed to catch a break in the clouds once at the Cathedral and I got some good shots of the spires against clear blue skies. I remember seeing the Cathedral from a distance a few years ago and it’s pretty impressive up close. Once inside the rest of the afternoon was spent wandering around admiring the stunning architecture and taking in the history of the building. One of the things I’ve taken to doing in old churches or religious buildings is read the plaques and gravestones, a little morbid but you find out so much about the people who once walked these places hundreds of years ago.
We got caught in a rain shower after finishing up at the Cathedral so went to warm ourselves up in a small cafe and then headed home.
My actual birthday was again really relaxed. I mainly spent time opening my geek-tastic presents from my family and best friend, who surprised me with the most wonderful package of presents ever. My present haul included The Hobbit on DVD, the Les Mis soundtrack, and a totally awesome A Very Potter Musical t-shirt (thanks Kath!) which will be perfect for LeakyCon (101 days wooo!). Despite my supposedly adult age (9 years till my sister helpfully reminded me =|), I seemed to get a few pretty childish presents (hiya Bertie Botts and Lucky Charms)…further proof that I seem to be ageing backwards!
All in all a really good weekend. I never planned on my 21st being a big blow out, my biggest celebration was my 18th and I always said that would be the last time I try to plan something that big!
