  • Real Life Gossip Girl | Blake Lively

Whilst catching up on red carpet fashion from the past few weeks there’s one girl who seems to be cropping up everywhere. Blake Lively is probably better known for her on screen style as Serena van der Woodsen from acclaimed TV show Gossip Girl. She’s currently promoting her newest venture into the movie world, ‘Savages’, after turns in Green Lantern and rom coms alike. Her looks from the ‘Savages’ press tour have been really impressive so far.
I do always feel a little sympathy for actresses like her, who’s on screen alias’ have a wardrobe to die for. How does one live up to the stylish standards of the Upper East Side?
Blake manages to do just fine, infusing both carefree California cool and savvy New York chic into her varied red carpet wardrobe. With her willowy frame it would be easy for her to vamp it up every single time, but she plays around with her look in both contemporary and classic designs, favouring pieces that showcase her mile-long-legs.
As she shuns having a stylist, it seems Blake unleashes her fashionable creativity on the red carpet where she really stands out from the crowd. Her stylish turns have even led her to work with the likes of Chanel and Gucci.

Her casual style is a little harder to pin down. Notoriously private, the only times we can sometimes get a clear glimpse of ‘everyday’ Blake is when she’s ferried to and from the New York Gossip Girl set. And even then, it can be hard to tell which look is ‘Serena’ and which is really Blake.  Comfort clothes, knits, jeans and flats seem to dominate her wardrobe outside of the ‘Gossip Girl’ world.

What do you guys think of Blake’s style? Worthy of her own post, or a second fiddle to Serena?

  • This Week…

    01.07.2012

What I wore: Maxi skirt, Grey dress (worn as a top), Necklace, Sandals [All from New Look]

Sometimes I forget just how much of wardrobe is stocked with New Look clothes. If any of you haven’t guessed by now, I work there part time and it’s become so easy over the past three years to shun away from other highstreet/online stores in favour of using my staff discount to get bits on the cheap [as seen with my mini jewellery haul last Friday]. I am branching out a little though and nabbed the gorgeous kimono cover up in the River Island sale, whilst shipping was free, and cannot wait to wear it out!

I’ve definitely had one of those insular kind of weeks, spending a lot of time at home (mainly helping out my poorly mum), sorting out my room/life and becoming hopelessly addicted to Avatar:The Last Airbender and the Lizzie Bennett Diaries on YouTube.
I did spend today prepping for a little dance demo me and some of my Filipino friends/sister’s friend are doing for our local Cultural Mela Festival. I won’t be full on dancing myself [I seem to have lost that ability since leaving the musical theatre world], but am happy to help out. My family’s lot of Paralympic tickets also arrived this week! Cannot wait to blog about it in August, should be an amazing 2 days!
Also! How are you all liking the refreshed layout? I’m thinking of tinkering around with it a big this week and would love to hear a bit of feedback :)

    Keep on wishing…

  • Wishlist Item[s]…

    [From top to bottom: 1, 2, 3]
    All from New Look

I’ll admit in the past year, but love for pretty, girl-y dresses has increased ten-fold. But I usually try to embrace my femininity quite subtly and attempt to steer away from looking like too ’10 year old at a Princess party’. However, after spying two of these dresses at work yesterday I’ll admit these dresses have got me counting down the days till payday. All three are just so lovely and ladylike, and if Blake Lively and Taylor Swift can embrace the Barbie pink, so can I! Plus if all of this sugary, pretty-ness (that’s a word I swear…) is a little nauseating, there’s nothing stopping me from pairing them with tough ankle boots and leather jacket.
