A bit of everything. The week began with the end of the Jubilee celebrations, a good ol’ BBQ in the rain and much time spent watching all of the coverage on the TV. Not gonna lie I might not be British by birth but I was sure proud to have been raised in the UK after watching all the Jubilee bits.
I’m now fully into my Summer holiday and I’m trying to enjoy my free time before starting my placement in August. So I’ve mainly been working part time, catching up with friends and (rather foolishly perhaps?) getting into new fandoms.
I got my first red carpet fix for a couple of months from the MTV Movie Awards [check out my part 1 & part 2 reviews] I always miss staying up tracking Tumblr, Twitter and real time fashion bloggers once January finishes.
I also received a runner up giveaway prize from the lovely Erin from her amazing blog shop Sawyer & Scout. Everyone should also follow her blog, it’s a regular read of mine and I’m normally fawning over her Weekly Style Inspiration posts.
And in terms of blogging news, I caved to the masses and splashed out on the Revlon Lip Butters in ‘Creme Brulee’. I was apprehensive about buying them as I’m not usually one to be bothered about what goes on my lips but I really like them, I am looking towards getting a darker shade for nights out now. Consider me converted!

  • MTV Movie Awards 2012: Red carpet fashion round up Part 2

Starting off part 2 of my round up is my favourite woman of the moment, Elizabeth Banks. She turned heads in a daring Elie Saab jumpsuit with futuristic styling and Black Ruthie Davis heels. It was an edgy look but as always she manages to pull it off with style.
Emma Stone is always a favourite for me at any red carpet event. She stuck to a simple black and white palette in a Martin Grant mini dress. She added some colour with a pop of pink lipstick, but I’m left wishing she went a little further, maybe some hot pink sandals too?
Despite it being a very informal affair there were also some floor lengths gowns on the red carpet. Louise Roe looked very elegant in a purple asymetrical David Meister gown with side swept hair. Kat Graham gave her best Angelina Jolie impression in an all black Maria Lucia Hohan dress with a thigh high split.
Not all the celebs chose to cover up at the awards though. Dancer Julianne Hough chose a midriff baring Sally LaPointe mini dress. As great as she physically looks the dress makes her look extremely broad around the shoulders and her hair takes away from the detailing on the dress. Ciara also chose to flash some flesh in a barely there Balmain mini. The only thing I hate about this look is her bleach blonde hair, it makes the whole thing look too Beyonce circa ‘Crazy in love’ for me.
Three fashion forward looks came from Julia Jones, Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Jessica Biel. Julia wore a bright neon Joy Cioci peplum mini, whereas Jenna and Jessica donned some cool blue and white tones in Lublu and Chanel respectively.

And finally a golden look from Nikki Reed. She glittered on the red carpet in a Randi Rahm mini dress with matching metallic heels and printed purse. I much prefer this look compared to her co-star Kristen’s. Nikki always manages to pull of a combination of sexy and sophisticated.

  • MTV Movie Awards 2012: Red carpet fashion round up Part 1

As we enter June, one of Hollywood’s biggest awards shows rears it’s big, bold and brash head. The MTV Movie Awards were held in L.A. on Sunday night and it was certainly a big one to watch in terms of celeb spotting. As always I was keeping a weather eye out on the red carpet. Here are some of my favourites and passed judgement on who needs to do better.
Emma Watson made a grand old return to the red carpet, representing both the Harry Potter contingent and to promote her new film ‘The Perks Of Being A Wallflower’. She really impressed me wearing a super slick printed mini dress by Brood with strappy heels. There’s a definitely sport lux/Christopher Kane feel about this and I love the zip racerback detail. It’s also lovely to see her hair growing out again, I love her pixie cut but it was very restrictive in terms of styling. Very event appropriate Emma, bravo!

Suits were a popular trend last Sunday. Leighton Meester turned up looking very Miami cool in a white Christian Cota tailored shorts and sleeveless blazer. This look would’ve been perfect had the blazer been fitted for a sleeker look, but I do love her hair and make up on this occasion.
A much improve Shailene Woodley walked the red carpet in a tailored Stella McCartney jumpsuit. With her hair loosely braided, barely there make up and chic sandals, this is definitely a wonderful improvement from previous looks. Looks like someone got a new stylist.
And finally Janelle Monae worked her signature look, a tailored men’s style suit, brogues and hat, with a gorgeous pop of pink lipstick.
One woman grabbing the attention of everyone at the event was Kristen Stewart. She was without her on and off-screen boyfriend Rob Pattinson for the first time at the awards and wore a Guishem mini dress and black heels. I always feel a little underwhelmed by Kristen at awards like this, she really impressed me at the premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman in her gorgeous skeletal gown. She always sticks to the same formula and I wish she’d just break out of the mould a little with her styling.
As always young Hollywood was fully represented at this year’s awards. Lucy Hale stepped out in a colourful Catherin Maladrino mini, which I really love but wish her skirt wasn’t so creased. Victoria Justice looked extremely Summer-y Erin Fetherston dress with simple strappy heels and beach-y hair waves. Crystal Reed‘s Issa dress was actually one of my favourites from this collection but she completely weighed down such a dainty dress with very heavy ankle boots.
Young Hollywood weren’t the only ones to impress, Charlize Theron looked hot in a peplum Lanvin mini dress. She went for simple styling but looked amazing none the less. Christina Ricci‘s dress was nothing short of cool. She wore a custom made Christian Siriano mini dress, which was embellished with Timex watch faces. If only her shoe choice was just as inspired.
I’ll finished this part with the adorable looking Brie Larson. I’m a sucker for a collared shirt, so her gorgeous all white look ticks all the boxes for me!
