  • Inspired by…Titanic’s Jack & Rose

I thought I’d theme this little feature in tribute to the 100th year anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic this weekend. As well as remembering those who lost their lives on the ship’s ill-fated maiden voyage, I know many will also be heading towards the cinema to experience James Cameron’s epic love story in 3d [for the record, I’m still refusing to see it unless they change the ending – let him share the damn door Rose!].
I thought I’d throw a little focus to many people’s favourite tragic lovers Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater/Dawson, as portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

I’ve given the couple a more modern twist with these looks. For Rose, the opulence from her upper class background remains, with a beaded Marchesa gown, but I’ve also taken some inspiration from her various wraps and longer skirts throughout the movie with the other pieces. Jack’s look was pretty easy. Smart, simple, with a touch of working class and not forgetting his trouser braces. And of course, a replica of ‘The Heart of the Ocean’.

    Keep on wishing…

  • Camden Calling

What I wore: Military shirt & vest top [New Look], Leggings [Primark], Sneakers [Lonsdale], Rings [assorted from TopShop & H&M]
Yesterday I headed to Camden with a friend of mine. I’d forgotten how long it had been since I last visited and it was really nice to spend a sunny afternoon trawling the market stalls, eating delicious Chinese food by the lock and fawning over pretty jewellery.

    – Sunshine whilst eating lunch by Camden Lock – Some of the market stalls – Cool earrings, necklaces & rings made out of old computer chips – a kinda foreboding photo of the Horse Tunnel Market lol – Me & my friend Roushie, who I spent the day with –

I picked up some two rings by Dirty Dolly Jewellery for £6 and a vintage 80’s cardigan from the Horse Tunnel Market for £20. I very nearly got a pretty vintage dark green playsuit, which I was going to turn into a dress, but my haggling skills pretty much sucked and I didn’t have enough money for the price they were asking. Damn…lol

All in all I had a pretty good day out, I definitely want to make a habit of heading down to Camden more often! Love it down there!
  • Wishlist Item(s)…Gaga-esque Summer sunglasses

I thought I’d dedicate this Wishlist post to the ever kooky Ms Stefani Germanotta, aka Lady Gaga, on her birthday. I thought I’d honour the gorgeous Summer sunshine we’re getting here in the UK and pick some great shades that would make even Mama Monster herself drool.
First up are the Prada Butterfly frames sunglasses, they’ve already been seen on a number of celebs and I love the delicate sculptural detailing on the outer frames. The ‘Danni’ chunky sunglasses from Kurt Geiger are definitely more Miami cool for lounging around on rooftop pools. The gradient sunglasses by The Row are my favourites, a lot more subtle for a more bohiemien look. Then finally some very Gaga-circa ‘The Fame’ sunglasses from TopShop would certainly turn some heads on the beach.
    Which one is your favourite?
