This weekend’s mini project is to sort the heck out of my new, smaller desk space. At the moment it’s full of bits and pieces of my old stuff, so Pinterest has been great to kickstart some ideas on how to organise it. I’ve mainly been spying unique ways of using objects for desk tidies and lots of colour too.

M.U.A. Colourblast Eyeshadow Tints (in A Gil Like Me & Loud), £3 each, Superdrug
Those following me on Twitter will know how much I’m lusting after the Clinique chubby eyeshadow sticks at the moment. In my quest for a cheaper alternative, I came across these in MUA Colourblast tints in Superdrug.
I believe they’re fairly new to the range and are very similar to offerings that I’ve seen from the Clinique, E.L.F and Max Factor. The tints I picked up are ‘Loud‘ which is a dusty plum purple and ‘A Gil Like Me‘, which is a slightly metallic grey. The darker swatches took only two swipes to build a decent colour for an evening make up look, although blended ‘Loud’ looks great for a little colour during the day. The wear is ok, with both lasting me through the day but clumping a little towards the evening – most likely me not using a primer each time I used them – and for £3 per tint the value is amazing.
Perfect for a quick make-up fix, I’m also hope they’ll add more shades to the range as time goes on as most of the ones available at the moment were darker, neutral tones (‘Loud’ being the obvious exception).

Am about to getting pretty personal up in here….

“…solitude matters and that for some people it is the air that they breathe.”

    – Susan Cain, TED Talks: The Power of Introverts

Starting anything new can be terrifying for an introvert like me. I’m fine with being sociable, I’m fine with making friends, and I love meeting new people but sometimes I need to take a step back, breathe and have some time alone. Have felt like this with Uni recently and though I love the atmosphere of being a student again, there’s so much pressure to be social within the first few weeks of term that it can feel a little overwhelming sometimes.
I found this talk a few weeks ago by Susan Cain about Introversion and I honestly wish I could’ve had heard her speak about this growing up. Over the past few years I’ve come to terms with being ok with needing to be alone, that I need to have some time go myself to even function and that it’s actually a good thing. It can get frustrating sometimes that some people haven’t come to terms with this part of my personality as much as I have, but I’m lucky to have a good set of friends and family who do just ‘get it’.
I’ve embedded Susan’s TED video below if you’re interested. She’s a wonderful speaker, but is also an introvert herself – have also just started reading her book, Quiet, which is also brilliant so far!
