My oh my it’s been quite the month! Since settling down into a routine IRL, I decided to make quite a big decision, throwing caution to the wind and to give blog my it a refresh and switch to WordPress. You can read more about my reasoning behind why I did it here. It’s now been about 3 weeks since I switched and apart from one teeny glitch the other day – where my blog suddenly went walkies on me midnight but was kindly restored with the help of my hosting company by 11am the next day – I’ve had next to no problems since. I want to write about my experiences switching platforms soon, but for now I’m rest assured that I’m feel so much happier with the blog right now :)

In the real world I also hit the refresh button on my brain and soul, and whisked myself away with the family for a Bank Holiday excursion to the Isle of Wight. I wanted to cut myself off a little bit from stress and constant media updates, so I left my laptop at home and stuffed my phone in my bag for the majority of the trip, and it felt glorious. As a blogger I often don’t realise how plugged in I’ve become and with as my new job partly requires me to be tuned into online media, I rarely get a break to just ignore the rest of the world for a bit. Not to mention it was just really lovely to spend some time with my parents and little sister, with only the oh so pretty views of the Isle of Wight to accompany us.

So now, back into reality and now it’s September first, I’m looking forward to what is shaping up to be an oh so hectic couple of months. But what’s new eh?

Becky went to Florida 1. to get married! wahey! and 2. visited lots of exciting places that I’m very jealous of (her post on the new Diagon Alley expansion is amazing!)

Sarah’s post about how she acquired this beautiful bracelet. I urge you to read the story behind it too, it’s rather touching and kinda beautiful :)

This wonderfully honest post from Katie, in light of the passing of Robin Williams, about mental illness.

Definitely want to give this DIY Instax Collection a go! Read the post on Vanilla Craft blog.

Very much in love with Jen’s post on getting a tattoo at 28 and it’s such a pretty design too.

Just look at the ceiling and decor at this Hoboken bar in Midge’s photo diary!

  • Blog Of The Month | Vivatramp

    16 Vivatramp

    Vivatramp

Run by…daydreaming literary lover, Bee, who lives by the sea
In 3…inspirational art projects, book reviews, & adorable adventures
Why I keep going back…It’s very hard to come away from Vivatramp without feeling inspired. Endlessly creative and quite a brilliant writer, Bee’s little corner of the Internet is great mix of art, books and lifestyle posts accompanied by dreamy photography. One of my favourite things about her posts is her personal touch, you can hear her voice seeping through her writing and her super laid back attitude make it feel like you’re reading about a friend. You’re also guaranteed to come away from her monthly book review posts with at least two or three items added to your TBR pile!
Favourite post…quite a recent one, but I loved her used book haul where she’s also managed to score some of her Uncle’s old Penguin classics!

  • Beauty | Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo Review

    Aussie-miracle-dry-shampoo

Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo “Aussome Volume”, £2.29, Boots

Before I dip into this review, a bit of background on my hair! It’s super fine but there’s a heck of a lot of it. For some reason this means it gets kinda greasy within a day and the only thing that really solves it is a good shampoo wash. I’ve been trying to do the whole day old hair/dry shampoo trick the past year and I feel like I’ve gone through the ringer when it comes to dry shampoo and having tried out most brands from Batiste to Treseme to Charles Worthington. I’ve not never really found one I felt I could stick with so far.

I spotted Aussie’s new Miracle Dry Shampoo (in Aussome – trololol – Volume) in Boots on an introductory offer. Aussie are certainly no newbies to the dry shampoo or hair product market, in fact their hair products are pretty legendary in the blogsphere, so decided to give it a go.

The first thing I noticed about this is it’s scent. It’s quite a strong, most likely the jojoba seed extract, which I personally do prefer this to other dry shampoos I’ve tried and reminds me a bit of my Treseme hairspray. I’ve seen a few other reviewers that aren’t keen on it though, so I think it’s a matter of preference.

The next thing I picked up on is the lack of white residue I usually get with a lot of dry shampoo brands. This is a bug bear of mine, as I have very dark brown/black hair, so I was pretty happy that this was barely visible in my roots! This is also means I’ve found this great to use just on a day to day basis to pump up the volume on my hair a bit, without the worry of that horrible shade of grey I get from other brands.

The lasting power of the shampoo is also impressive and, for me, proved a great little way to refresh my hair and give it a little bit of lift.

All in all, this is a great dry shampoo, especially if you’re after something a little more long-lasting and are after some volume!

Have any of you guys tried any of the Aussie range?
