Just in case you didn’t know I’m moving this weekend! And as a method of procrastination from actually packing up my clothes/room/life, I’ve picked out a little wish list of home decor bits for my new digs.

Most of this wish list is comprised of soft furnishings, to make my bedroom as cosy as possible and to take advantage of the fact I have a double bed now ^_^ H&M home is killing it when it comes to home decor at the moment, I could’ve added their entire spring Home collection if I’m honest.

I’m also looking for small organisational bits, a bookshelf (there isn’t one in the room at the moment, so my books are shelf-less until I get one!), and little home-y touches like lights. I may have to wean myself off candles but I am excited to try out The Body Shop’s reed diffusers.

  • On Blogging Resolutions | Wishing For Chanel in 2015

    2015-blogging-goals

New year, new me…blah blah blah. You’re probably all sick of posts about New Year’s Resolutions, but I thought I’d at least throw my two cents into the mix.

In the past when I’ve set up blogging goals they’ve almost entirely been numbers based i.e. hit so-and-so many followers by December, get so-and-so many views, earn so-and-so much money, do so-and-so many brand collaborations etc. It’s hard not to get caught up in the numbers game as a blogger but I’ve discovered that trying to hit certain targeted number counts only leads to disappointment and frustration.

This year on Wishing For Chanel I want to channel three things into my blogging. Share. Diversify. Let It Go. These three phrases will serve more as a mantra than actual resolutions that are wholly more achievable and less about number chasing.

    Share

I feel like I don’t speak about how incredibly talented the blogging community is enough, so in 2015 I want to share more about the bloggers/vloggers/Internet people I’m loving more frequently both on the blog and on social media too. That means more blogger/instagram love posts, shout outs to people on Twitter and recommend more bloggers I enjoy reading to others. I want to involve myself in the online community more and what better way to do this than through sharing the love.

    Diversify

Contrary to what my blog name says I’m not all about the pretty fashion posts anymore. Though I love my share of gasping at designer couture, my personal online space has evolved as the years have gone by. In some cases this has meant creating side projects dedicated to those interests (i.e. Blogger’s Bookshelf and Feminist In Training) but in most cases I want to share more about those other facets of my life here.

    Let It Go

Elsa had the right idea when it came to letting go of her inhibitions. After four years of blogging I feel like I’ve finally hit a point where I’m comfortable with who I am and what I want out of blogging.
I’ve semi-resigned myself to the fact that I will never become as big as someone like Zoella or Tanya Burr, I don’t need continuous outfit posts to keep myself relevant in the community, and the world will not collapse if I forget to do a blog post or take a break for a week. I’ve come to terms with the fact that though I may be a blip in an ocean of incredibly talented bloggers, I have a community that I’m happy to chill with – you’re all awesome btw. So yeah…Let It Go, Let It Goooo!

Let me know what your blogging resolutions are too!

  • New Year’s Style Resolutions 2015

Eagle eyed followers will notice I didn’t round up my 2014 style resolutions last year…well, on top of giving myself a bit of an unscheduled social media/blogging break, looking back at them I didn’t do very well with them at all.

It may be the ‘older head on younger shoulders’ thing I seem to have at the moment, but I feel like I’ve hit my stride when it comes to my personal style and know what I want to wear and what I need in my wardrobe.

So, instead of focusing on a set of style rules to follow for the year, I’ve picked out 5 key pieces I’m going to aim to get in my wardrobe, as I start to build up my grown-up capsule style.

    2015-resolutions-trenchcoat-lbd-brogues

    The All-weather Trench

There’s no hiding my love of Burberry trench coats – heck I even blogged about my love of the trench last year. And whilst I don’t think my budget can quite stretch to the ultimate goal of owning a classic Burberry mac (in cream with dark brown trimming and the iconic ‘check’ print inside…yep I’ve planned this), I don’t think a decent quality trench coat is out of reach.

    The Perfect Day-to-Night LBD

Though I’m not necessarily working in the most formal office anymore, there’s no doubt a little black dress which can be dress up and down to reach for in times of major distress. I’m hoping for something cap-sleeved, at that magical ‘just above the knee/acceptable for the workplace’ length.

    ‘Oxford’ Brogues

When in Rome, right? I used to own a pair of faux leather Oxfords I used to wear to my Saturday job (they went with everything). They’ve since fallen apart and I never replaced them. I do own a lighter fabric pair of flat brogues for the Summer months and a nicer patent black pair from Zara for work, but a sturdy pair of leather Oxfords is on my wish list of this year.

    2015-resolutions-flannel-shirtdress

    The Levi-esque Flannel Shirt

It may be the ‘grunge’ revival, it may be my slight obsession with 5 Seconds of Summer coming to fruition, but I really want a decent dark red tartan check flannel shirt. It needs to be big enough to fall a little slouchier on me and in a specific kind of check print. I’m hoping eBay will be my friend to secure this.

    The ‘Safari’ Shirt Dress

Here’s an item that not only fits in well with upcoming trends for Spring 2015 but is something that makes it’s way round again and again. Military dress. Shirt dress. Safari/Khaki dress. Whatever you call it, this timeless piece will probably be the easiest to acquire. I’m looking for breathable fabric for the Summer with a little more quality behind it, so am hoping places like Mango, Zara and The Gap will be hoping onto this runway trend asap!
