  • Inspiration | Spring in Bloom

    spring-in-bloom

“Is the spring coming?” he said. “What is it like?”…
“It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine…”
    – The Secret Garden, Frances Hodgson Burnett

I know, I know a post about flowers and greenery and that smell of a new season in the air *I can see you yawning through the screen*

Honestly the idea that Spring air, the days getting longer, and the sight of blossoms on the trees are really doing good for my general wellbeing. I adore the cosy embrace of Autumn and the euphoria of Summer, but I think it’s far to say I don’t fair well in the Winter – and this one seems to have gone on forever. Though the cold snap is still present here and the intermittent rain showers are still ever present in England, the flowers are slowly creeping out and so is the sunshine between the cracks of cloud.

    Let the sun shine in!

  • Poetry | To the city that stole my heart

    Times Square

To the city that stole my heart,
It’s only been a few hours since I left
Yet it feels like I’ve been away an age
I’m afraid my memory of you won’t hold for much longer

To the city that stole my heart,
As the bright lights fade into the distance I shiver
I feel cold not surrounded by crowds
    The silence is stifling

To the city that stole my heart,
Your looming concrete skylines never fail to steal my breath
I wax poetic at your beauty at every possible moment to people who don’t care
Is it possible to feel more at home here than my own bed?

To the city that stole my heart,
I know how Holiday felt now, Frank too
I quietly hum the lyrics to a Billy Joel song
A piano accompaniment to our love affair

To the city that stole my heart,
They’re trying to turn me against you
I am blinded by optimism, they tell me to move on
Or face the inevitable heartbreak you will deal out

To the city that stole my heart,
Why is it so hard to say goodbye
I’ve been to hell and back in your arms
But this is a one way relationship

To the city that stole my heart
    Keep it

I never want it back anyway

  • Favourite Underrated Female Youtubers

    favourite-female-youtubers

Youtube is DEAD! Or so the critics say. If I’m being honest, I’m bored of conversations that proclaim lack of creativity and original content on Youtube in favour of sponsored videos, ‘hilarious’ challenges and vlogs. Yes, the generic content rises to the top but that shouldn’t stop us from looking a little harder at where the good stuff actually is.

From where I’m standing Youtube is positively thriving. And what is super encouraging is that I’m finding that some of the best content on the platform is coming straight from female content creators.

I’ve never been a fan of the world ‘small’, I feel like it diminishes the accomplishments of the Youtubers themselves, many of whom have been vlogging for just as long as their so-called ‘famous’ counterparts. So rather than focus on subscriber count here are some of my favourite underrated female Youtubers who are kicking some serious butt right now.
