  • BAFTAs 2015 | Red Carpet Fashion Round Up

It was the biggest night in the British film calendar this past Sunday, with the BAFTA’s held at the Royal Opera House in London. Normally a more subdued run up to the Oscars – and sadly always slightly overshadowed by the Grammys – but this year’s red carpet was particularly fantastic for fashion.

    BAFTAs15-Keira-Knightley

Blooming Marvellous & Best Dressed Award | Keira Knightley

Knocking it out of the park, again, was the beautiful Keira Knightley. The Imitation Game actress wore a gorgeous a-line Giambattista Valli midi-gown with some seriously breathtaking floral details. The bodice itself is honestly my favourite part with all it’s pretty white petals which works wonderfully with the floral embroidery on the skirt. Paired with simple black pumps and lightly curled, side-swept locks, Keira let this stunner of a gown do the talking. I’m hoping her winning streak extends out to the Oscars!

    BAFTAs15-Laura-Haddock

Best Princess Moment Award | Laura Haddock

You’d expect one of the leading actresses up for one of the awards to capture everyone’s attention on the red carpet, but Laura Haddock (actress and wife of Sam Claflin) truly blew me away. Laura was the absolute picture of elegance in this truly stunning tulle Ashi Studio gown, paired with simply with a pair of beautiful diamond earrings. I love for princess moments like this, so Laura did not let me down here.

    BAFTAs15-Hannah-Bagshawe

The Valentino Daydream Award | Hannah Bagshawe

Speaking of plus ones, Hannah Bagshawe gave her equally fashionable other half, Eddie Redmayne, a run for his money in a wonderfully whimsical and fairytale-like Valentino gown. Can we seriously please take a minute to appreciate the stunning detail in this gown? From the faded feathered, gold embroidery around her shoulders to the floral detail falling into the skirt, there’s so much to look at, it’s amazing. Hannah kept this look very simple with barely-there make up, a loose up-do and small gold clutch. Beautiful.

    BAFTAs15-Amy-Adams

White Hot Award | Amy Adams

Actress Amy Adams, was an absolute vision in white, wearing a custom made Lanvin gown. It’s super sleek and so refreshing on Amy, who often favours the ol’ Hollywood glamour look. The wide silver belt is just the touch to keep this look from fading too far into the backdrop. Not it would, this stark white shade works so well with Amy’s complexion and red hair.

    BAFTAs15-Gugu-Mbatha-Raw

Prada Perfection Award | Gugu Mbatha-Raw

Sweeping onto the red carpet in this gorgeous lilac hued Prada gown was Rising Star award nominee, Gugu Mbatha-Raw. This modern day take on the drop waist shape gives off a very Audrey Hepburn feel, which works so well on Gugu. I also love the contrasting detailing on the waist, shoulders and neckline for added interest.

    BAFTAs15-Julianne-Moore

Fiery & Foxy Award | Julianne Moore

What a knock out look from Julianne Moore! The Best Actress winner pretty much owned the night in her red Tom Ford gown. With it’s dramatic plunge neck and body con cut, it’s certainly a head-turning look. This hue looks gorgeous on Julianne and she looks like modern day Rita Hayworth with her loose locks and striking features.

BAFTAs15-Lea-SeydouxRay Of Sunshine Award | Lea Seydoux

Speaking of retro throwbacks, Lea Seydoux glided onto the red carpet in this dazzling Prada number. Normally cut-outs are more at home on edgier minimalistic looks but the ones on this gown alongside the swathes of sweeping fabric look so damn chic. Together with Lea’s bold red lip, this look is a winner for me.

    BAFTAs15-Julie-Walters

Glitter And Be Good Award | Julie Walters

Last, but certainly not least! A shining star on the red carpet was the ever endearing Julie Walters, who attended the awards in a glittering, sequin ensemble by Adrianna Papell. This a sensational gown and I’m grateful Julie let it do the talking with classic jewelled earrings and bangles.

So that’s all guys, which was your favourite BAFTA look?

Have I missed any other noteworthy ensembles?

  • Red Carpet Fashion Round Up | Golden Globes 2015

Happy beginning of awards show season guys! It’s my favourite sartorial time of year again and kicking off the festivities was the 2015 Golden Globe Awards held in Beverly Hills last Sunday.

As usual I’m picking out just some of my favourite looks from the night below…

    GoldenGlobes15-Emma Stone

Best Dressed & Most Left-Field Award | Emma Stone

The best look of the evening, rather unexpectedly came from the ever amazing Emma Stone, who walked the red carpet in a Lanvin jumpsuit. It’s was a risky move but was totally worth it because she completely and utterly rocked this! With it’s beaded top, sweeping sash and slim fit trousers, this look would just scream wrong on anyone else but Emma somehow manages to carry it off with wonderful flair.

    GoldenGlobes15-Rosamund Pike

Most Angelic Award | Rosamund Pike

One of the first on the red carpet was the exquisite looking Rosamund Pike, who wore a stunning white Vera Wang gown. The whole looks is very ethereal but her sleek bob cut and minimal jewellery (just a simple set of diamond earrings) keeps this from looking too bridal. The cut-out trend is very over done on the red carpet but I love the way this gown wings out into the taffeta skirt of the dress.

    GoldenGlobes15-Quvenzhane Wallis

Most Adorable Attendee Award | Quvenzhane Wallis

Quvenzhane Wallis is an old pro at the red carpet by now, having made her debut as the youngest nominee at many of last year’s awards show events. This year she looked appropriately adorable in a custom Giorgio Armani gown. I adore the little beaded detailing across the top paired with the pretty lilac of the taffeta skirt, so cute! And all accessorised with a beautiful smile too :)

    GoldenGlobes15-Naomi Watts

The Let The Sunshine In Award | Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts was a welcome burst of colour in a sleek canary yellow Gucci gown. This shape works really well on Naomi and her eye-catching accessories (namely that amazing Buglari snake necklace) and tousled long bob are a nice twist on a classic Hollywood look.

    GoldenGlobes15-Lorde

The Doin’ It Her Way Award | Lorde

Emma wasn’t the only one rocking something a little left-field on the night. Singer-songwriter, Lorde worked an amazing all black menswear-inspired ensemble by Narciso Rodriguez. The loose-fitting trousers, sleek blazer and fitted crop top suits Lorde’s more relaxed style to a ’t’ and set off the look with a jaw dropping-ly gorgeous Neil Lane statement necklace. This is definitely one of my favourite looks I’ve ever seen from her.

    GoldenGlobes15-Dakota Johnson

50 Shades Of Silver | Dakota Johnson

Shimmering onto the red carpet in the midst of her new found fame was actress Dakota Johnson, and she made sure all eyes were on her in a glittering silver Chanel Couture gown. I remember seeing this piece from the collection and I’m so impressed with how well it’s translated on the runway. The dress itself borders on the right side of sexy and looks amazing styled against Dakota’s loose brown hair.

    GoldenGlobes15-Lupita Nyong'o

The She’s Still Got It Award | Lupita Nyong’o

After storming the 2014 awards season Lupita N’yongo once again proved why she topped the best dressed lists again and again in an eye-catching Giambatista Valli gown. Just look at how incredible the floral bodice looks! This colour is also sensational on her and the waterfall effect of the floral print is really breathtaking. Here’s hoping she keeps up her unbeaten track record at these events.

    GoldenGlobes15-Allison Williams

The Ravishing In Red Award | Allison Williams

Another favourite of mine from last year was ‘Girls’ actress Allison Williams and this year she looked just as incredible is this Armani Prive number. Not only is this a knockout colour on her, but the subtle layering and beading is really beautiful. Plus her retro styling is absolutely killer, gotta love her smokey eyes which gives the whole look a cool young Hollywood edge.

    GoldenGlobes15-Felicity Jones

The English Rose Award | Felicity Jones

One of the most head turning looks on the night was, Best Actress nominee, Felicity Jones’ Christian Dior Couture gown. This teal blue number is certainly not your typical red carpet princess look, but I’m loving it nonetheless, especially structured skirt. The high neck and prim and proper styling leave Felicity looking very aristocratic. What a beaut!

So we’re off to a flying start! Can’t wait to see what else this awards season brings :D

  • Red Carpet Fashion Round Up | MTV VMAs 2014

Just beating out the Grammy Awards for most outlandish and ridiculous awards show is the MTV Video Music Awards. The VMAs are notorious for controversy both on stage and on the red carpet and this year’s ceremony, held at The Forum in California. was no exception! Here’s my run down of my favourite looks from the night…

    Gwen Stefani VMAs 2014
Best Dressed Award | Gwen Stefani

A bit of a left field choice for me at this year’s ceremony, my best dressed isn’t going to one of the performers or even a nominee, but Ms Stefani, who was presenting on of the famous moon men on the night. Not one to shy away from colour or to fly the flag for her own brand, Gwen Stefani stepped out at the VMAs in a hot pink and black bustier and pants from her L.A.M.B label. Accessorised with sheer pointed pumps, bright pink lip and messy quiff, Gwen really brought her A-Game on the night with her own brand of grown up punk-rock cool.

    Holland Roden VMAs 2014
Clean & Simple Award | Holland Roden

A very, very close second to Stefani for best dressed was this look from actress Holland Roden. I distinctly remember Holland making an impressive debut at the VMAs last year, so it’s not surprising that she’s looking just as good at this year’s event. Taking on the popular sports-lux trend Holland wore a pretty white Milly tea dress. The netting, keyhole cut-outs and silver accessories keep this ensemble blending into the backdrop and was one of the more memorable looks from the night.

    Miley Cyrus VMAs 2014
Most Improved Award | Miley Cyrus

I think this is a first for me, but I think Miley’s come out with a red carpet ensemble I can finally get behind in minimalist looking harem pants and a bandeau crop top by Alexandre Vaulthier. Despite the sheer amount of leather here, it’s a rather chic and sophisticated look from the singer who accompanied the look with two-tone sandals and simple make up. Perfect balance of fashion forward without a hint of try-hard, bravo Miley.

Taylor Swift & Nicki Minaj VMAs 2014
The Flipped 180 Award | Taylor Swift & Nicki Minaj

Out of all the looks on the red carpet there were two ladies that totally went out of their comfort zones.

Taylor forwent her usual Hollywood glam/sequins/gown, opting to showcase her lean, mean legs in a Mary Katrantzou jumpsuit and Ellie Saab heels. It was quite a departure for the singer, who’s new look coincides with her new sound. I know this look divided many on the night, but I personally – and obviously – think she looks amazing here, it’s great to see her confident enough to try something a bit different!

Nicki on the other hand went in the opposite direction in a thigh skimming yet long sleeved dress by Saint Laurent. Though this is a sequin snake print mini, the whole look, alongside her retro inspired hair do’ and nude pumps is rather demure for the rapper – who’s days of attention grabbing outfits seem to be behind her (at least on the red carpet!). I for one think she looks stunning here.

    Laverne Cox VMAs 2014
Sequins Are The New Black Award | Laverne Cox

It’s not often the TV stars at the VMAs outshine the musicians but Laverne Cox caught my eye for all the right reasons at the ceremony. Glamming it up in a sequin black Marc Bouwer number and patent pumps, I adore the asymmetrical line of this mini and the added shoulder detail. It’s a look I would’ve expected from someone like Taylor or Selena Gomez but I love how this hugs her figure.

    Nina Dobrev VMAs 2014
The Lady Is A Vamp Award | Nina Dobrev

Another actress impressing on the red carpet this year was Nina Dobrev, who attended the ceremony wearing a Autumnal Zuhair Murad gown. I adore the draping around the bust and waist, and the detail on the belt is stunning. Paired with a high ponytail and matching coral lipstick, this was a great look the Vampire Diaries actress.

    Beyonce VMAs 2014
Queen Of The Costume Change | Beyonce

As if there was any doubt in who, once again, stole the show this year it had to be Beyonce. She stormed the VMAs this year in three show stopping outfits. She started off the night in a gothic Nicholas Jebran lace gown accompanied by some impressively large Lorraine Schwartz earrings. She then shimmied on stage in full on performance mode in a Tom Ford bodysuit, which gave the effect of a crack glass mosaic and looked amazing under the stage lights. And finally her deep red Zuhair Murad gown, which I much prefer to the red carpet look. This colour is amazing against her skin tone and lighter hair colour.

That’s all for this year! What were your favourite looks from the night? R.xoxo [twitter][tumblr][IFB][instagram][BlogLovin]
