I used to take weekends for granted during school and through University. I don’t think it helped that once I hit 16 I worked most of them and never really got a shot at actually having one. Now, as a working adult living that 9-5 life, weekends are oh so sweet. And there’s just something about Summer weekends that feel even sweeter.

The sun is out earlier, the birds are tweeting away, but the world isn’t quite awake yet. It’s early but it feels like daytime already. Your bed covers are just the right temperature and for some reason you feel less guilty about scrolling through Pinterest and having a lie-in.

I wrote a little post recently about magic of Golden Hour, but after reading Michelle‘s comment on that post, I totally agree and figure the sunrise at start of the day deserves some appreciation too. Somehow it feels fresher and more invigorating than the golden rays at the end of the day.

  • An Ode To Independent Magazines

There’s no denying the print magazine industry is in a slight decline. Even publications like Vogue seem to be struggling as they turn to digital subscriptions and boosting their online presence to boost sales.

I guess in some ways we’re partially to blame. As both a blog reader and avid social media user, I rarely get my news or fashion/beauty fix in print anymore. Why would I splash out when I can get my content pretty much for free online? I had admittedly fallen out of love with the printed medium and rarely actually pick up a copy of Glamour or Elle anymore – if I do it’s normally because I’m swayed if one of my faves is the cover star.

I am slowly reginiting my love for print though thanks to independent magazines. It’s a slow crawl but like other ‘lost’ art forms (podcasts, crafting, vinyls etc.) they’re experiencing somewhat of a comeback. Publications like Oh Comely or Kinfolk are thriving, as are a number of other niche titles. There seems to be an allure to what’s being created. Pickier magazine readers are seeking something individual and more cutting edge, others may have also grown bored of seeing the same high street top in every ‘glossy’.

  • Lifestyle | Square Snaps Review + Giveaway!

If you guys know anything about me I loves Insta-tography. Something I’ve realised over the past few months since doing my little Insta-round ups is just how many digital snaps I actually have on there and printing off the images I’m most proud of has been on my ‘to do list’ since forever.

After a bit of digging I found Square Snaps online. As the name suggests they’re a photo printing company that will print out whatever photos you’d like and send them straight to your door. All you have to do is upload them directly from your computer OR link up your Instagram account to select which snaps you want, choose the size of photos you want (it can range from Polaroid style prints to squared off Instagram prints to individual greeting cards) and they’ll send them to you with minimal hassle.
