It may be too late to book a holiday this close to Christmas – and with everything happening in my life IRL ‘ain’t nobody got time for that’ – nevertheless looking a little ahead towards 2015, after my little NYC adventure this year I’ve been eyeing up places a little more affordable and closer to home. I’ve travelled to various parts of Europe when I was younger, but we seemed to have neglected the Northern part of the continent, more specifically the stunning Nordic regions.

According to Google (and Pinterest) this includes Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and it may be just because it’s that snuggly and Winter-y time of year but don’t the photos I’ve found from all over Pinterest make these countries looks so utterly beautiful.

With the breathtaking scenery and even more awe-inspiring, cultural cities, how can you not want to pack your bags and head North? I mean just look at all those snow-topped mountains, endless landscapes and gorgeous architecture *le sigh*

  • Christmas Gift Guide For Book Lovers

I may be biased but it’s my honest opinion that bookworms are the easiest people to buy presents for. But usually us literary folk get one of two presents at this time of year. 1) A book (duh) or 2) a book voucher – because the giver usually has no idea what book to get said bookworm.

As much as I love books and hell yeah book vouchers are awesome (it’s like buying books without the guilt!), sometimes we’d like people to think a little creatively. Never fear! Hopefully you can use this mini gift guide for inspiration below…

From home and lifestyle items to t-shirts and tote bags (what is it about bookworms and tote bags?), there’s no excuse to find literary themed presents for the special book lovers in your life – or for yourself ;)

‘It’s the most wonderful tiiimmmeee of the year!’

It’s December, we’re less than a month away from Christmas, and the festive spirit has hit me full on in the face! Now I’d like to think you guys are super organised and already have your decorations up, but just in case you’re after a few more ideas and/or are scrambling to find some bits and pieces to put up. When it comes to Christmas decor inspiration I’m filling my wish list with items from two ends of the festive spectrum.

//Grey dip scandi decorations, Paperchase//Lit fantasy table tree, Next//Glass baubles, John Lewis//Wooden Christmas tree, Harrods//White LED lights, John Lewis//

On one hand is the super sleek, scandi-inspired minimal Christmas look, which is much more about clean lines than overloading your home with trinkets. Think delicate lights, barely there Winter trees, ornaments with natural wood finishes, and a colour palette of greys, whites, metallics and rose golds.

It’s a great theme to stick to if you’re looking for money saving options as it places focus on styling than the ornaments themselves.

As great as the minimal them is, there’s something about sticking with a truly traditional format that just reminds me of home. With this theme you’ll want to take a the opposite approach to the minimalist style and go for luxurious details in warm and cosy reds and golds. This theme would, of course, be nothing without beautiful evergreen wreaths and trees dripping with baubles, bows and winter berries.

Which theme will you be sticking with this year?

Have you sorted your decor for the Holiday season yet?
