Ciao bella! Week three of the fashion week calendar has us jet setting off to Italian shores for the Milan Fashion Week shows. Though a new S/S collection often brings about exciting new designs, Milan’s fashion houses are often steeped in a design aesthetic that runs decades deep within the collections. Here are my top 5 favourites from the season…

  • Milan Fashion Week | Favourite SS14 Collections

It was the Italian’s time to shine with Milan Fashion Week in full flow a few days ago. And like London and New York before it, I thought I’d highlight just some of my favourites!….
    Versace-SS14
Versace | Usually a sexy free flowing Goddess, the Versace woman had a bit of an edge to her this season. A little bit Rock ‘n Roll, Donatella’s collection was laden with studs, denim, and hardware chains. Though I’m sure the darker pieces will become fast favourites on the red carpet in the coming months, it’s actually the lighter pieces that have caught my attention. The fabrics and cuts are certainly pretty, but in true Versace fashion, there are peek-a-book details and skirts that skim the body.
Who should be wearing this collection? Selena Gomez, Heidi Klum, Blake Lively, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
    Francesco-Scognamiglio-SS14
Francesco Sconamiglio | Another new designer to me, who’s actually be in the ‘biz’ for a while. This collection was the perfectly dainty for the S/S season. Florals, embroidery and lace may sound like a demure combination, but Scognamiglio’s collection anything but. Shirts were the sheerest of fabrics, as were many of the dresses, meaning a lot of skin on show. It never detracts from the beauty of the pieces though, I personally love the see-through white lace jacket.
Who should be wearing this collection? Emma Stone, Florence Welch, Elle Fanning, Rooney Mara
    Blumarine-SS14
Blumarine | Contrast seemed to be the theme at Blumarine. It was almost a completely monochrome collection, until ‘coral’ started making appearance, adorning skirts and jackets. There’s the pieces themselves, some more professional office wear – think pencil skirts, blazers and blouses – in comparison to the showstopper gowns – which will certainly made appearances on the red carpet. Texture-wise there there were tough leather and patent trousers, then there was silky sheer and delicate Spring embroidery.
Who should be wearing this collection? Lily Collins, Demi Lovato, Camilla Belle, Olivia Palermo
    Emilio-Pucci-SS14
Emilio Pucci | Pucci was all about sport-lux with a heavy dose of urban prints for S/S 14. Having worked with Rita Ora and Beyonce this year, it looks like the designer was keen to infuse their street style into the collection, which he does with much finesse. Deep purples, oranges and pinks stand out on the heavy black fabrics that are belted, cinching in those curves. Paired with open toed ankle boots, Pucci’s girl – like Versace – was tough to the core.
Who should be wearing this collection? Rihanna, Fergie, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Rita Ora
    Etro-SS14
Etro | Only one word is really needed for this collection. Prints. Prints. Prints. It was an explosion of colour and pattern, Etro with each piece as exciting as the next. There was nothing formal about this, and though there were many red carpet worthy pieces, the clothes were almost a capsule wardrobe for a Moroccan holiday.
Who should be wearing this collection? Jennifer Lopez, Lea Michelle, Gwen Stefani, Mary-Kate Olsen

So I’ve covered New York, London and now Milan. What have been your favourite collections so far? And keep an eye out for my Paris Fashion Week Faves next week!

Wear the runway trend now | Rock n Roll style at Just Cavalli S/S12

I’m currently in the middle of a very hectic first week back at University so I’ve only just managed to catch up fully on the Milan Fashion Week collections for Spring/Summer 2012.

One collection which certainly caught my eye was the Just Cavalli presentation. Encompassing the everything sexy about the label the collection had a retro Rock n Roll feel with an added boho twist. From leather to both leopard and snake prints to flowing dresses and shirts, though a S/S collection, I could definitely spot pieces that would easily work into an Autumn/Winter wardrobe.

Below I’ve picked a few of my favourite pieces from around the web to help inspire you to re-create this look now before it becomes big in the Summer.

This is probably the easiest collection of pieces to incorporate into an Autumn Wardrobe with all the darker colours and leather. But once it hits Summer will look great during festival season!
