Summer Shoes & Style Snippets | Guest Post by Michelle

Hello Wishing For Chanel ladies! Iā€™m Michelle ā€“ self-confessed shopping enthusiast, night owl and daydreamer by trait, and editorial girl by trade.

While Ria is off on her travels in New York City, she’s enlisted me to look after the blog for one day only. I write about all things style and fashion, frivolous spending and impulse buying included, over on my own blog Daisybutter so today I’m sharing some of my summer style snippets to easily update your wardrobe for the season.

Floaty Smocks + The Ubiquitous Tan Sandal

I love the simplicity of teaming a simple floaty smock top with equally simple tan shoes. In the summer there’s nothing worse than over-complicating hot weather dressing! I’m absolutely loving this Topshop number and my tan two-part sandals from good ol’ Zara, although there are similar styles at New Look if you’re interested – mine are unhelpfully now over a year old.

Barely-Theres + Always-There

This year saw me get completely obsessed with barely-there shoes. I don’t know what it is, but they make me feel supah-sophisticated. These Clarks ones are stupidly comfortable, while the ASOS Habitual heels lend a more season appropriate colour. And if you’re just not a heels girl (me either, outside of work!) I’m just in LOVE with these cheap and cheerful H&M sandals. I team my barely-there shoes with always-there accessories – see what I did, er, there? – including a simple white gold charm bracelet and mixed-up pastel polishes on my nails.

TOMs Revisited

I’ve always felt a bit love-hate towards TOMs but recently discovered these boot versions and my summer just got a whole lot better. I’m actually really excited to wear these to Brighton in the summer, to combat that whole ‘WTF do I wear on a pebbly beach?’ dilemma. They’re really lightweight and make a simple statement with plain outfits!

Nike Free Runs

Oh yeah I went there. I’m notoriously girly, kitsch and more elegant in my usual style choices but no-one was more shocked than I when I went to the Nike store a fortnight ago and bought trainers. Originally I bought these to kickstart my quest to become a runner, but they’re also seriously good with turned-up skinny jeans and a striped Oxford shirt or lightweight camisole in the summer.

How do you update your style for the summer without buying an entire new wardrobe?

(Thanks Ria for letting me invade your blog! Come and say hello on my blog if you’re free guys?)
