  • MTV VMAs 2015 | Red Carpet Fashion Round Up

This is a first in Wishing For Chanel red carpet reporting history…I fell asleep through most of the VMAs coverage this year. Whoops!

Never fear, it’s taken some time but I’m all caught up on the gossip (Cyrus vs Minja, Kanye 2020, Bad Blood Squad goals and all!) and more importantly the gowns! As always judging the looks from the red carpet for this particular event is…interesting to say the least. There’s less focus on the traditional and more on the outlandish, it’s totally unique in that respect, which require a totally different perspective to judge fashion standards by than say the Oscars or Grammys.

So, gear up, it’s about to get weird. Here’s some of my favourite looks from this year’s MTV Video Music Awards…

    VMAS15-Vanessa-Hudgens

Best Dressed Award | Vanessa Hudgens

I didn’t even expect this little lady on the night but my oh my was she a ray of sunshine in hurricane of weird. Surprisingly (for me anyway) this year’s best dressed is going to Vanessa Hudgens, who looked like a radiant fairy queen in this gorgeous Naeem Khan. gown. I’m very much in love with the floral details on this peach number, as well as her choice of golden jewels and hair accessories which she used to style up the look. What a beaut!

  • Insta-round up | August

    8 August InstaLife

    Soundtrack: Roman Holiday by Halsey

August was busyyyy in both good and bad ways. Good in the travel and the people I’ve gotten to see and be with over this last proper month of Summer. Bad, with stress and too much time spent in my head again.

You’re probably sick of hearing the fact that Summer is seemingly over and you now have to wind into a fresh new season. September always signals the start of a new term at schools, colleges and universities and even if you’re not in education anymore you can feel the effects of that fresh start. Whether that be the fact your commute is 10 minutes longer thanks to the new additions to the school run or the fact that Paperchase are emailing you back to school offers 10 times a day. I always loved the start of a new school year. It was my chance to get back into the zone and tell myself ‘this year I’m not gonna procrastinate, I’m gonna work hard’ (n.b. this pretty much failed every year but hey at least I tried!).

Despite this I do feel this September, even more so than January is the optimal time to try and make some autumnal resolutions. The Summer to Autumn transition is the most dramatic in my opinion – going from sweltering hot to wearing jumpers in a space of a few weeks. At this time of year, January always seems like a distant memory. I’m feeling this especially this year having moved at the beginning of the year, I barely remember my resolutions and so much has changed in the space of nine months.

Though I have loved the Summer months much more this year, I am so ready for a change. I feel refreshed after a long Bank Holiday break centering my head again and refocusing my brain.

  • Wish List | Transitional fashion

We may only just be reaching the end of August but my brain is firmly planted into the incoming Autumn season. Luckily the British high street and many an online retailer agree that it’s high time we start embracing the season, unfortunately as always the British weather is being wonderfully erratic. Blazing 30 degree sunshine one day, buckets of rain the next!

Transitional fashion is tricky, but there are a few new seasonal items that should ease you out of your Summer dresses and sandals, and back into those oh-so-comforting knitted pieces and boots.

    transitional-fashion
Check shirt, H&M | Suede skirt, Monki | Denim dress, H&M | Chelsea boots, Gap | Pointed flats, Zara | Mustard trousers, Mango | Wool tank top, Topshop | Khaki trench, New Look | Pleated dress, Zara | Wool scarf, Topshop

The transitional trends I’ve picked out all comes from this season’s take on 70’s inspired fashion – though this time it’s much less Stevie Nicks boho and much more Mila Kunis in That 70’s Show. But don’t let that scare you, this particular trend is perfect for this weird transitional fashion period.

Fabric-wise you’ll wanna dig out the suede and upgrade your Summer denim, wear both with minimal layering for the hotter Indian Summer days, but throw on a pair of tights and some Chelsea boots when the whether takes a turn for the worst. I’ve also thrown in some forever pieces (a trench, patent flats and a pleated dress) in the new season’s earthier colours.
