  • Wish List | Fresh Start Stationary

If there’s one thing I truly miss about having an impending new school/college/uni year ahead of me now it’s doing that annual Autumn stationary shop!

I know for a fact that I’m not alone in loving the feeling of walking into somewhere like Paperchase and picking through new pens, notebooks and folders. And just because I’m not starting afresh anywhere new doesn’t mean I can’t join in with you guys getting ready for the new term and gear up for a fresh start!

fresh-start-stationary‘Girl Boss’ pencils, Etsy | Mint exercise book, Oh Deer | Padded laptop sleeve, Etsy | Small page markers, Muji | Day desk plan, Sighh | Sticker pack, Kikki-K | Gel pens, Muji | Pencil case, Etsy | A5 notebook, Kikki-K | Geometric sticky notes, The Fox & Star

Normally I like my stationary simple, preferably matching, and functional (handbag ready please!) and I have included a few of those types of pieces in there. But hey, where’s the fun in being totally practical? And why stick to the basics when you can appease your inner child with some more colourful items in your handbag too!

  • Wanderlust | British Staycations

With Summer slowly drawing to a close I’m looking closer to home for some truly British staycation getaways in lieu of another trip to foreign shores over the coming months (and so I can save some pennies for trips abroad next year!). Thankfully Britain isn’t short of some pretty decent travel inspiration and there are plenty of options for anyone thinking of vacationing near instead of far.

There are of course classic seaside towns on the South Coast of the country. Head West and you have the luscious rolling hills, moors and clifftops of Cornwall and Devon. Towards the East are my favourite traditional Summer escapes, Lepe Beach, old Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight, and Brighton.

  • Wish List | Transitional fashion

We may only just be reaching the end of August but my brain is firmly planted into the incoming Autumn season. Luckily the British high street and many an online retailer agree that it’s high time we start embracing the season, unfortunately as always the British weather is being wonderfully erratic. Blazing 30 degree sunshine one day, buckets of rain the next!

Transitional fashion is tricky, but there are a few new seasonal items that should ease you out of your Summer dresses and sandals, and back into those oh-so-comforting knitted pieces and boots.

Check shirt, H&M | Suede skirt, Monki | Denim dress, H&M | Chelsea boots, Gap | Pointed flats, Zara | Mustard trousers, Mango | Wool tank top, Topshop | Khaki trench, New Look | Pleated dress, Zara | Wool scarf, Topshop

The transitional trends I’ve picked out all comes from this season’s take on 70’s inspired fashion – though this time it’s much less Stevie Nicks boho and much more Mila Kunis in That 70’s Show. But don’t let that scare you, this particular trend is perfect for this weird transitional fashion period.

Fabric-wise you’ll wanna dig out the suede and upgrade your Summer denim, wear both with minimal layering for the hotter Indian Summer days, but throw on a pair of tights and some Chelsea boots when the whether takes a turn for the worst. I’ve also thrown in some forever pieces (a trench, patent flats and a pleated dress) in the new season’s earthier colours.
