  • Beauty | Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nails Review

    barrym-quick-dry-nail-polishes

I’m sure every blogger and their mother has blogged about these polishes, but I need to rave review this ok? As I said you’ve probably seen these brilliant Speedy Barry M Quick Dry polishes floating around the blogsphere and in the shops lately with it’s nicely themed racer striped tops.

I adore the angled brush, it makes application so much easier as it reaches right into the corners of the nail. Consistency-wise it’s is pretty much in line with other Barry M polishes (a little thinner than a gel lines). Even with two coats, it does live up to it’s promise and dries up super quick, which is perfect for last minute nail decisions for a night out (or if you’re just super impatient like me).
The only flaw I’ve picked up whilst using these is that if left unattended it chips quite easily. I have worked in a top coat which keeps it going for a while longer but that obviously doesn’t dry as quick!

The ranges comes in 15 Summer-y shades, but I picked up a trio of gorgeous pastel colours. The pale blue (‘Eat My Dust’) is a fantastic everyday shade that’s become my go-to recently. There’s also a dreamy lilac (‘Pit Stop’), which again is great for day-to-day wear and has a slight ‘greige’ tint to it. Finally there’s a lighter orange shade (‘Full Throttle’), which is like a less daunting alternative to that covetable corals and tangerines most people veer to at this time of year. All three will carry you throughout the year to be honestly especially the cooler shades.

And in terms of prices, it’s very hard to go wrong with Barry M, you get what you pay for really and there’s always offers on if you want to try out a couple of shades!

Have you tried out these polishes? And which of the other shades should I add to my collections? ;)

  • Beauty | The Little Soap Company & Naked Haircare Review

I seem to have extend my cruelty free pledge outwards from make-up recently. Bodycare seems to be an area not really talked about too much in terms of cruelty free companies (and when it does Lush tends to dominate this arena!) but I thought I’d share two I’ve discovered recently.

Started by former PR agent, Emma Heathcote-James, The Little Soap Company was established 5 years ago out of Emma’s need for a little stress relief and love of green beauty. Since then the soaps, still manufactured here in the UK, are now stocked on the shelves of both Tesco and Waitrose, and provide a nice little cruelty free and environmentally friendly alternative to the usual soap brands.

I found the Organic English Lavender and Citrus bar in my local Tescos and gosh is it lush! As well as the soothing hit of lavender (which is perfect for washing away your troubles at the end of the day) you also get the refreshing citrus scent to perk you up a bit too – perfect for trying to cool down on hot Summer evenings! I have fallen a little in love with the lavender/citrus combo, but I wouldn’t say no to trying out the rest of their organic range too – they have peppermint and rosemary scents too.

  • Beauty | Best Online Cruelty Free Stockists

One of the challenges I have with the British high street is finding a decent range of cruelty-free products.
Though I much prefer physically buying beauty products in store, to test out the colours/pigmentations of products, as a cruelty-free advocate it can be hard to find niche CF brands in places like Boots – and sometimes (sadly) Lush isn’t enough!

Shopping online can also be a mind field and finding stockists can be tricky, especially when you’re just to figure out which products you should and shouldn’t buy, and which stockists are the most reputable. Luckily there are really great online retailers at hand who sell a range of ethical products online.
Here are four places to get your cruelty-free beauty fix without the hassle.
