    2 Feburary InstaLife

     Bloodstream: Ed Sheeran

Guys, how is it March already? The months seem to be flying by this year and yet it also feels like I’ve been living away from home for donkey’s years!

     Someone New: Hozier

First month of the year and hasn’t it flown by!

It’s been a busy ol’ month, with moving* and starting a new job and try to be an adult etc. I’m still finding my feet at the moment and the blog has taken a hit because of it. I talked a little bit about losing my mojo recently and though I’m not 100% back on track, I am getting there. Like I said in the post lack of blog posts definitely doesn’t equal lack of inspiration – especially judging by the infinite amount of draft posts I have sat in my Evernote notebooks that is definitely not the case. It’s the writing part that’s tripping me up at the moment, which is odd as blogger’s block usually comes the other way round.

I guess in a way I’m still feeling a little unsettled. I’ve discovered that I’m not great when I don’t have a definite routine in unfamiliar surroundings (I felt the same during the first few weeks starting University, so I need to jog myself into really now that I pretty much have to manage my own free time. That being said I have been relishing the change. Now that the shock of actually uprooting my life to a different city has sort of settled in I’m actually really excited to explore a little and step out of my comfort zone – and of course blog about it.

Here’s to a more productive February guys!

  • 2014 In Restrospect

    2014-In-Retrospect

    2014 was the year I…

…somehow graduated University with a first class degree and a first class dissertation on a topic I really care about despite wanting to pull my hair out between the months of January to May

…saw more incredibly talented people perform in both amateur and professional theatre including Les Mis, Book of Mormon and Newsies

…fangirled out watching Taylor Swift (and Ellie Goulding and The Vamps) and got far to emotional when she started playing Long Live as her surprise song

…tried not to fangirl (har de har) too hard meeting Rainbow Rowell at her signing in London and other awesome authors/booktubers at the first UK YALC

…cried in a quiet corner at Top of the Rock at the view of the New York skyline at sunset on my last night in the city…cried in Times Square because I was watching The Tonys Awards live in on actual Broadway…cried because the food in Chelsea Market was so damn delicious…generally felt all feelings on my solo trip to New York this Summer

…celebrated Blogger’s Bookshelf turning into an adorable toddler (i.e. two years old) and semi-celebrating laughing at stupid Halloween puns with Erin in London

…secured a job right out of University at my old placement workplace…and subsequently secured another by the end of the year

…creeped on Anthony Head, Mark Gatiss and Jenna Coleman at London Film and Comic Con

…cut myself off from the world for a bit visiting the Isle of Wight with my family after what has been a tough year for us personally

…started another blog (Feminist In Training! *throws confetti*) to chronicle my journey into feminist activism, albeit rather sporadically!

…laughed far too hard with Kath watching the Youtube Holy Trinity (a.k.a Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart & Mamarie Hart) perform live at their London #NoFilter Show

…marvelled at the beauty of North Wales where I successfully didn’t fall off a rib-ride at my friend’s Hen Do

…invested in my blog with a WordPress switch, official domain name and swanky new layout!

Sometimes I really marvel at how useful keeping a blog is for times like these because 2014 was busy for me. This list alone is only a portion of what I got up to this year, these are just my highlights. Not only did I hit some serious milestones in my personal life (graduating University, travel solo for the first time, securing a graduate job etc.), had a heck of a lot of fun with friends and family but I made a first proper leap into really investing into myself and this blog.

As incredible 2014 has been, 2015 is proving to be quite the banner year with a move to a new city with a new brand new job. I know everyone panders on about new beginnings but 2015 really looks like it might be for me.

Happy New Year my lovelies! See you on the other side :D
