Minimalism isn’t a new trend, in fact it’s as old as fashion itself. The runways have been awash with the trend since the 60’s, with the fashion style synonymous with androgyny, simplicity and unusual architectural detailing. Minimalism has become the signature style for such design houses as Mason Martin Margiella, Calvin Klein and Jil Sander.
But its red carpet revival in being led by a crop of new and veteran stars who are turning the trend into something a little special. It’s a different way of making a statement, opting out of the go big or go home option that many stars seem to take. The mother of all minimalist style being Tilda Swinton, there’s a fashion pack following in her footsteps in the form of Rooney Mara, Carey Mulligan and Gwyneth Paltrow. Even the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone and Cameron Diaz are getting in on the act too!
