Looking at just the header of this post you’d be mistaken for thinking this was an Autumn/Winter or Pre-Fall collection. Nope. It’s become quite a tradition for Vera Wang to use her main ready to wear label as an outlet for her own personal style, which in comparison to her wedding dress line, is dark, moody and tom-boyish.
For me, as with most collections which catch my eye during fashion week season, the beauty is in the detail. This time it’s thick rope-like appliqué, suit tailoring with frills, and heavy fabric pleating, set off with thick leather belts.
It’s not all monochrome black though. There are light notes to the collections but they’re in the form of metallic shades, gemstones and rainy spring florals. Think gothic English gardens or Wuthering Heights-esque countryside.
