Oscars 2015 (Part 1) | Red Carpet Fashion Round Up

Happy Tuesday guys, are you ready to help ring in the penultimate big awards show of the season? There was a wonderful array of fantastic looks at this year’s 87th Annual Academy Awards red carpet. As usual I had major trouble drilling them down to a few favourites, so here’s part one of my 2015 Oscars red carpet fashion round up…

Oscars15-Lupita-Nyongo

Best Dressed Award | Lupita Nyong’o

Despite not actually being nominated for anything, Lupita seems to have returned to this year’s red carpet season with a winning streak of looks. Like her Oscars gown from 2014, her look for this year’s ceremony was just as breathtaking, as she stole the show wearing a head-turning Calvin Klein column gown. Normally the words head-turning and Calvin Klein don’t mesh well together, but in this instance it’s best dressed worthy formula The cut of the dress itself is beautiful, then the detail hits you in the form of 6,000 hand sewn pearl beads. To say the beading on this dress is intricate would be an understatement. Lupita was pretty smart and let the dress do the talking here with simple hair and make-up and minimal jewellery. Brava girl!

Oscars15-Felicity-Jones
Pearly Queen Award | Felicity Jones

Felicity Jones has been quite the flag bearer for British fashion this season, so you can imagine how ecstatic I was to see her wear this enchanting Alexander McQueen ballgown on the red carpet. It looks like Felicity took a leap out of Lupita’s book with the pearl beading on the bodice of the gown. But instead of going with a minimalist take Felicity was in full-on princess mode.

Oscars15-Rosamund-Pike
Red Red Rose Award | Rosamund Pike

Lots of actresses wore red on the night but very few turned heads quite like Rosamund. She’s really been switching it up every time she’s stepped out during awards season but this time she went for a modern take on the classic Hollywood column gown. The floral patterns and cut on the gown give off the illusion that she’s wearing rose petals, and the thigh split add a little va va voom to the outfit. So beautiful.

Oscars15-Rita-Ora
Most Improved Award | Rita Ora

Praise and rejoice I’ve finally struck a happy medium with Rita Ora. The singer and I rarely see eye to eye when it comes to fashion, but she’s won me over in a stunning Marchesa gown. This is one of my favourites from the collection, mainly for the gold filigree details and architectural shaping around the waistline. Rita kept the rest of her look slick for a modern take on Hollywood glam and I’m glad she decided to retire her signature red lippie on the night. Has she taken it on I feel like it would’ve overpowered a very cool and clean look and the navy of the dress. My only hope is that she keeps this up for the Brits this week!

Oscars15-Chloe-Moretz
The Summer Is Here Award | Chloe Moretz

Summer came early in the form of Chloe Moretz’s pretty little strapless Miu Miu gown. The print makes me long for hot Summer days and works so well with her slightly new California hair do’. The outfit strikes the perfect balance between the formality of the Oscar yet Plus hey it looks like it has pockets!

Oscars15-Anna-Kendrick

Most Consistent Attendee | Anna Kendrick

One of the first looks I caught a glimpse of on camera (due to her need for a costume change in time for the opening number with NPH), Anna Kendrick walked the red carpet in a very pretty coral Thakoon gown. It was rather lovely and minimalist with only a diamante collar adding a little extra Hollywood sparkle. Anna pretty much continues to hit the mark every time she steps out at these awards ceremonies and when she looks as good as this, I’m forever grateful!

Oscars15-Jamie-Chung

The Baby You’re A Firework Award | Jamie Chung

What a wonderful princess moment from actress Jamie Chung in this beautifully, breathtaking Yanina Couture gown. It’s a classic Hollywood red carpet design but the sequin starbusts stand out brightly against against the dark navy blue colour of the gown. It’s a shimmering, youthful and a fresh look from the actress. I’m also majorly envying her hair and make-up for this too, so gorgeous.

Oscars15-Keira-Knightley
The Earth Mother Award | Keira Knightley

Keira’s top notch red carpet looks just keep on coming with this latest ensemble. She walked the red carpet in this beautiful Valentino gown, which was embroidered with literary quotes and floral details. I adore how much fun Keira has with experiementing with different designers and shapes. Plus she totally looks like some sort of ethereal fairy queen here.

So that’s part one of my Oscar round up, who were your favourites from the night?

Make sure you stick around for round two on Thursday :)
