Song of the month: No Time For Lonely by LOLO

September is a start. A reboot. A change in the weather and the seasons. A chance to reassess and potentially begin again before the year is out. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking this month but here’s three I wanted to share.

A cathartic haircut, the physical shedding of emotional baggage, always seems to work wonders on my mentality. Especially when you have a one-on-one Little Mix ‘Hair’ moment with a new hairdresser in a salon.

The company of friends who have known you since you were taking your first dive into clubs when you were 18 is sometimes what you need right now. They will pass judgement both with and without laughter and it will be ok because they’ve seen you do dumber stuff when you were younger and dumber than you are now.

A small lick of paint on your blog can make you want to join a community again. I know I sound like a broken record whenever I say I want to jump back in (hiya this post is 5 days late) but I really want to try. So be patient with me please.

    Poetry | Inner Adventurer

My inner adventurer loves to climb.

    Trees, cliff tops, mountains.
She swims oceans , circles coastlines.
    The stars guide her way.

‘No need for maps’ she proclaims.
Conquering Everest is all in a day’s work.
She has mastered the Incan trail, battled through forests and desert storms
(She has the battle scars to prove it)

Language proves no barrier to her excitement
Connection fuels her, intrigue is infectious
Dancing in the shadows of the rialto,
Singing alongside buskers in the rain
Jumping into the clear blue with sailors

My inner adventurer has seen the Seven Wonders
And yet the horizon line never fails to take her breath away
She stands in awe of towering cities, overhanging trees and endless canyons
This tiny planet holds so much promise, so much beauty to comprehend

My inner adventurer has not surfaced just yet

But maybe, someday, she’ll be brave enough to try.

    Revisiting Bridget

I was about 12 when the first Bridget Jones movie came out.

Aside from vaguely remembering the ‘All By Myself‘ scene and Geri Halliwell’s official single, I don’t recall much about it at the time. Shoot forward a couple years and I’ve obviously since watched the film in full multiple times, I know all the references. It’s only now, however, in my mid-twenties, also a working woman, also single, that I think ‘Wow…Now, I get it.’
